There's no fucking way I would let my ex wife take my two American daughters to Pakistan. You would be absolutely insane to agree to that. In fact, since she thinks that such a trip is OK, you should file something (not sure what, NAL) where a judge orders her not to take them.

You should always vet a adult that will be around your children. She should have done that. At least google and see if he comes up a sex offender or criminal past. If she didn’t then it is up to you.

I agree with you. I shouldn’t have let my emotions get the best of me. It was also tacky they were all in matching Jammie’s. It felt inappropriate but taking the high road was the better move here.

How old are you kids? Also Pakistan for young females would be risky - though you read conflicting information about this but there is just too many horror stories. Unless you know very well the ex's partner i personality wouldn't sign just after a year l I would tell ex that their kids can come visit your daughters here or wait till till daughters are older and earn trust of ex and the partner.

There is NOTHING wrong with you taking a picture of his car. You have NO reason to delete the pic or follow her wishes. She doesn't control you, your phone or what you choose to take pictures of. The high road is keeping the picture, the high road is NOT complying with everything the eX wants.

To answer your questions you are not in the wrong and you are being watchful of your children. Would you hire a baby sitter and not ask for references?

OP, I suspect your gut is telling you to be wary of this man. This is not an indication of some sort of bigotry or anything xenophobic, these are your parental/protector instincts kicking in, hopefully this guy is a good dude and all that, but if I was the boyfriend in this exact same situation and I wanted to bring your daughters to meet my family in a foreign country, a country which treats women/young girls vastly different then the US, I would totally understand your valid concerns about the safety of your daughters and be forthright in providing all of my information and contact info as I would recognize that I'm taking reasonability for your daughters safety and I would want your blessing before traveling with your daughters.

Pakistan has been part of the Hague Abduction Convention since 2020. So thinking she is going to take the kids there, and keep them there, is irrational.

Yea you shouldn't have done that man. By your account she's not being honest either but you can't stoop to that level because it just destroys you from the inside out.

Take the high road. Channel that anxiety into something positive for yourself, meditate, and focus on improving your situation.

Be the dad your kids need and they'll see the consistency as they get older. Play the long game. Short games are shortsighted.
