I think feminists should stop blaming men when a slight majority of pro-lifers are women and women politicians are pushing abortion restriction legislation.
I think feminists should stop saying men, that have no reproductive rights, have no idea what that is like for a woman's to be limited.
I think feminists should stop saying if men could get pregnant, abortions would be free and legal everywhere. Look at the reproductive rights males have been given - none.
I think feminists should stop with the double standards. Most of us are pro-choice for everyone but we are told that is misogynistic and just an excuse for men to trap women. Everyone should have the right not to have parental responsibilities.

A little education on our perspective. Many guys find mens rights because they were raped or baby trapped.

Courts have repeatedly ruled consent doesn't matter on the part of the male.

After Hermesmann v Seyer set the precedent, courts around the country have decided that male victims of women owe the perpetrators child support for decades, while other precedents (Roe v Wade) and laws (safe haven laws) generally allow female victims many options to get rid of the product of their rapes.

Hermesmann successfully argued that a woman is entitled to sue the father of her child for child support even if conception occurred as a result of a criminal act committed by the woman.

There are many others out there. I do not believe there has yet been a single case where a boy or man has gotten out of paying child support to an adult woman that statutory raped, raped, sperm jacked, etc.

The good news is that in recent years feminist lobbiests have pushed for laws to prevent rapists from getting child custody. Without custody the child wouldn't be raised by a rapist and the victim wouldn't owe child support. So the day that a male doesn't owe his perpetrator may be coming soon. The less good news is that just over half the states that passed these laws passed them as the feminist lobbiests proposed them - only preventing rapist fathers from getting custody. Personally, I'm not happy. I am pro-choice. But the difference between me and most feminists is that I'm pro-choice for both genders, not just women.

I hope that this experience will give feminists a much-needed lesson in empathy and what the term "equality" means.

Over the years I've had so many debates with feminists who insisted that only women should have the right to consent to parenthood. Women must always have the right to choose when & if they become a parent, but men must not have the right to consent because they might say "no", and that would be inconvenient for women.

Not only do feminists bitterly oppose gender equality when it comes to men's total lack of reproductive rights, they also can't discuss the issue without insisting that men don't deserve basic legal rights because they are all deadbeats, irresponsible, misogynists, man-babies etc etc. In other words, feminists think men are subhuman and don't deserve the same right to consent to parenthood that women enjoy for that reason.

Men's and especially MRA's right to free speech
Efforts to tackle paternity fraud, including mandatory DNA testing at birth and releasing men from the obligation to financially support children that are confirmed as not theirs
Key foundations of western civilization such as meritocracy, by demanding affirmative action, quotas and lower standards for women, accelerated promotions for women at the expense of men, and more

Feminists also:

convinced the CDC to exclude male victims of women from the rape statistics, so that feminists can use the propaganda tactic of claiming almost all rapists are men
don't oppose the gender sentencing gap. In fact, the only involvement in this area is by feminists groups lobbying to completely eliminate jail for women, thereby increasing the gender sentencing gap to infinity

It's important to remember that from a legal perspective, Roe being overturned doesn't equal losing abortion rights. It's losing the right to abortion for the legal reason under Roe. There are plenty of other potential pathways for abortion rights.

As for the reactions here, most of it is just pointing out that many men are tired of hearing women tell them they don't know what it's like to not have reproductive rights. We're well aware of what it feels like, so even if you're pro choice it just comes off as tone deaf from our perspective.

I don't think it was every a right outside of the actual decision of Roe, but regardless probably best to have legal.

I do appreciate that we can have political diversity in this country, and two different states can have two different laws on a topic. Hopefully, they'll all make good laws, but I'd rather have a system in which 70% of people get what they want than one in which 50% get what they want because an issue is handled at the federal level.

Look I'm Pro-choice but I do believe in bodily autonomy for women; as well as reproductive rights for men. Abortions should be legal in all senses, it should NOT be used as a form contraception, and should be given protections for women who have ectopic pregnancies, or other health concerns.

I also strongly feel that sperm-jacking, rape, false paternity reporting, and non-informative adoptions -- wherein the mother does not give the father a fair right to be awarded sole custody without consent -- should be re-examined and given closer scrutiny, as well as state laws that need to be amended in these matters. Because your body does affect my bottom dollar, but I'm asking you to speak up against your cohorts who do everything to contradict me. Left and Right, working together; you help me, I'll help you.

make no mistake, i hate what's going down over there in america rn, I'd never want to see women lose abortion rights, I'd much rather just earn parental absence. but, undeniably, by taking away abortions, women are put on an equal field with men. again, I'd rather we both have rights instead of taking away rights, just like I'd rather remove conscription instead of conscripting women.

parental surrender is important just like abortions, and i wish it wasn't dismissed so much, but its nearly impossible to talk about the idea of parental surrender without getting hate, while we're practically expected to worship abortions. not only is it sexist against men, but it would also give the option for a woman yo choose to carry a fetus for the father (if she wanted to), and then surrender her child rights if she didn't want involvement. parental surrender can benefit both genders.

Not me. I am MRA and have been a member of this subreddit on and off for almost ten years. But as soon as I heard about the Alito (sp?) draft being leaked, I contributed $100 online to Planned Parenthood USA.

Taking away a woman's right to freedom of choice is wrong. No ands, ifs or buts. I am in favor of better treatment for men in the educational system, in family courts, and in representation in popular media. But making things more equal for one gender doesn't mean taking away legal and moral rights from the other. This is a no-brainer.

And in fact, taking away the right to choose from women is bad for both women's AND men's rights. If a woman cannot legally terminate a pregnancy that is bad for her health, her liberty or her pursuit of happiness, then by definition it forces the man into becoming a parent against their will as well. It is a violation of EVERYBODY's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

But as for you, you have every right to be upset. I've got your back. And I've already put my money where my mouth is.

Firstly, the MRM is not a monolith. Some are pro-choice, some pro-life, and others somewhere in between.

I accept that human life starts at conception, but still lean pro-choice because I don't trust that pro-life politicians have put enough thought into the nuances of the abortion laws that they propose. If drafted incompetently, an abortion law can kill the mother:

So how can we more effectively deter unplanned pregnancies without imposing draconian abortion laws that put the mother's life at risk?

While I don't necessarily oppose reasonable restrictions on abortion in principle, because I distrust the competence of our present pro-life legislators to draft such a law without putting the mother's life and safety at risk, I therefore prefer an alternative solution:

Make fconsent to ornication an offense punishable by a heavy fine that doubles for each repetition of the offence.

Since fornication is never medically necessary, it would therefore not put the mother's life and safety at risk.

Truth be told that a law banning fornication would not deter freely consensual acts of fornication: it would be quite easy for a couple to fornicate quietly and consensually in a private room with the courtains pulled and no one would know.

However, if either part shows the slightest reluctance, the other must then seriously consider the risk of being reported to police. Consent to fornication, though difficult to prove, is still much easier to prove than prostitution (for which we must also prove an exchange of money for the act) or sexual assault (for which we must prove lack of consent). With the collaboration of one party, it would be quite easy in many cases to prove that the party had given consent to fornication and so oppose a heavy fine. This in turn would more effectively deter sexual abuse and so manage the sexual-abuse epidemic:

As for paper abortion: I personally lean against it but would support it under the right conditions: I believe that granting a man the right to consent to fornication and the right to a paper abortion at the same time presents too high a risk of abuse. Imagine a man sleeping around, impregnating a bunch of women, and then just obtaining a paper abortion each time!

I personally believe that any man who wants a paper abortion should first be required to forfeit his freedom to fornicate.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I am pro-life, but many, quite possibly most of the MRAs on here are pro-choice.

Personally as an MRA I don't care how much men are negatively impacted by the overturning of Roe. Ending abortion is more important than men's convenience (or women's convenience for that matter).

Here's the thing, abortion isn't a men's rights issue. As such, we are not unified on this matter. Some MRAs are pro-life and some are pro-choice. Neither positions on abortion are inconsistent with men's rights. So we aren't on the same team here, but we aren't opponents either, at least not as MRAs. I suspect that's why you get the sense that we should be allies but aren't for some unknown reason.

Some MRAs seem to feel that way, and I disavow. Though I will point out that they aren't using that sentiment as the basis of their political beliefs. They generally aren't saying "I want abortion banned so that women will know what it's like to be forced into parenthood." They're just saying "well now women know how it feels, and maybe it will motivate them to help us." Either way, again, I don't agree with either sentiment.

I should point out that the rise in availability of abortions hasn't actually reduced the single motherhood rate, and the increased availability of conception hasn't reduced the unwanted pregnancy rate. Both have skyrocketed since 1970.

You'd think that the explicit "solution" to both of those problems existing and being commonly available would actually cause them to go down.

One thing I've never understood is that if the pregnancy is unwanted, why did you make conscious decisions that led to you becoming pregnant in the first place? Seems a bit stupid if you ask me. If you know that you don't want to become pregnant, then you should act responsibly and take all of the necessary precautions to prevent that from happening. If you choose not to take those precautions, for whatever reason, whilst knowing full well that you don't want to have children yet, and you end up getting pregnant as a consequence, that is entirely on you. You should then be made to face the consequences for your carelessness and take some responsibility for what you've done. Besides, killing a foetus or destroying an embryo, which both constitute a human life, should not be allowed. Using abortion purely as another form of contraception is deeply wrong and signifies a real problem with the ethics of the person engaging in that behaviour.

All of that is just my opinion though and I'm not looking to get into an argument over this. As you can probably guess, I'm pro-life. However, I do believe that abortion should be allowed in special and rare scenarios, like in cases of rape or incest. As well as that, I think abortion should be allowed if the mother's life is in danger or if her health is threatened in any way. I also think that abortion should be allowed in cases where there was proper use of contraction, but for some reason, that is out of the control of the woman, it failed. That might be a difficult thing to prove though.

I suspect it's a case of wanting to drag others down to the same level in hopes of being understood. Maybe partial revenge fantasy, maybe part glad that an issue largely favored by a group openly hostile to men's rights is losing a right men have never had. Some may be happy because now if the mother puts the child up for adoption, the father may get custody and have a chance to argue for child support, living out the twist that is usually reversed (mother has child father doesn't want, but he has to pay for their lifestyle). Some are also upset at their lack of say over what happens to what is very likely their living offspring; science suggests the fetus is meaningfully human life at earlier and earlier stages. Some of these reactions I think are justified, some not.

Personally, however, despite how unfair it is to men, it is the biological reality that women have to bear the child. So I do think the decision needs to be 100% the woman's. I think it's absolutely traumatic to fathers, but even so, I don't think anyone has a reasonable right to force a woman to carry a child to term. Whether it's human life or not, the woman has the right to not support anyone else with her body, and if the only way to extract them and regain her control over her body is to kill it, so be it. Yes, even if it is defined as a human life and it's murder. If the least destructive way is to induce labor and if doing so very early is likely to be fatal, also so be it. I am not happy at all about the right being taken from them.

I don't know how common this view is, but because this position isn't really relevant to men's rights, people who share it are less likely to make posts because it's not really about men's rights. It's necessarily a women's issue; the closest it comes to being a male issue is when it involves the trauma of one's child being killed in the womb, or the matter of financial abortions.
