A system can be good and working in a domain (say the economy) and bad in the other (say the sexual realm).

It's even more apparent that those two things aren't equivalent when the very basis of one system (exchange of money for service, legal enforcement of contractual obligations) is considered absolutely horrendous in the other.

Apart from the fact that you can't lump "men on PPD" + "conservatives" + "people who want to reverse the sexual revolution" together, there is nothing in-principle wrong with believing that free markets in general work, but there are some exceptions due to market failures. Even most conservatives concede some market failures exist.

Can hypergamy, or other aspects of female sexual/romantic psychology, result in a market failure? This is a plausible hypothesis.

Of course, speaking as a professional economist, I'd say that a lot of people like to substitute their own value judgments in place of actual "market failure" theory. Men are prone to cognitive biases just like women are, and this needs to be taken into account. Also, if we're going to take a serious look at both sexual and relationship marketplaces, we'd see they're rife with asymmetric information, bilateral deception and opportunism (and, particularly in the relationship marketplace, hold-up problems as a consequence).

That said, I wouldn't say this proves we shouldn't have a free (or even freer than we currently have) sexual or relationship marketplace. Interventions to fix market failures have costs, too (typically referred to as government failures or policy failures). Strict social norms (which often perform much of the same regulatory role in contexts like these) also have costs. The intervention or social norm must have greater benefits than costs, in order to justify it.
