That one woman who went viral on Tik Tok for wanting liberal men that are traditional and masculine is the reason why I made this post. I don't how to feel about this yet. A part of men just wants to write these people off as simple hypocrites. But then again I don't how these views varied among individuals though. But I still find it hilarious that some people can criticize gender roles for being toxic. But still, somehow manage to perpetuate the same toxic gender roles they claim to hate.

FOR EXAMPLE.

A toxic gender role might be men treating women like video game points. Because these men feel the need to approach random women they don't know in public, to score some cool guy points or alpha male points.

Sure a lot of people say this view of women is toxic. But they still expect men to be the gender where confidence is exclusive to them. Therefore men must be the ones to approach women. Because this gender role is still expected of men, even some people with progressive views will still agree with the idea of men being the pursuers.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE.

Another toxic gender role is men being crazy about sex. Of course, this is bad. Since can lead to a lot of issues like SA, and inappropriate comments at work or any public setting, and this can portray women as objects. So we should all universally agree that men being sex craze freaks is a toxic trope that needs to die right. Right?

But on the flip side though. If a man doesn't show any interest in sex with a woman or has a low sex drive. Now all of a sudden that man is considered gay. Or some type of weird abnormality.

AND ANOTHER EXAMPLE that I realized.

That people would complain about how men are taken more seriously than women. And how male privilege plays a role in men getting away with being more assertive and getting more respect In society. Now of course women shouldn't be punished for being assertive. And of course, women should get respect in society. I believe that 100 percent.

But then again on the flip side. When it comes to positive masculinity. Men are still expected to be role models, leaders, and heroes In society. I never heard anybody talk about women can be role models, leaders, and heroes lol. I only see this done in girl-boss superhero movies. But at the end of the day, we all know those movies are just pandering at best. Or just mere gimmicks or power fantasies at best.

It's not that I disagree with these people. I think I would usually be on the same page with these people. But there is this lack of consistency with their views. It's almost like they are sending me mixed signals or something.

That's the best way I can describe it lol. When it comes to views about gender roles. It's almost like they are complaining about a huge problem. But they somehow manage to be fine with the roots of the problem for some reason. Maybe some of these people aren't aware of this. Maybe I could be wrong here.

In conclusion

Maybe I'm being too much of a gender-abolishment type of person here. But what do you guys think about this phenomenon about some people hating gender roles, while also loving gender roles at the same time too?
