The whole premise of this subreddit is not built around online dating, but rather, in person interaction. There's a reason for that.

Online dating your supplementary at best. If you treat it as the only way that you meet new people/women, you're going to have a bad time.

The idea that you're letting a lack of matches on a commercial dating platform get you down indicates a very basic, fundamental issue here.

Creating a social life that exposes us to new people on a regular basis is something most humans need to do to better maintain their own emotional health. And coincidentally it increases your chances of meeting someone that you hit it off with.

Imagine if you were a CEO at a top company and you put a job advert out for a highly skilled position, you get 3,000+ people applying (very reasonable number of tinder matches for a hot girl), how many applications would you go through before you stopped treating them as actual people?

Thats basically the position most attractive girls are in when it comes to online dating apps. Its not particularly nice but it is understandable and in line with human nature. Don't take it anymore personal than you would a high profile job not responding to your application, just move on and focus on in person dating if possible.

Get matches? It's because women don't look for men online. They look for men around them who they are more familiar with. They like the idea of what is essentially shopping for a partner, so giving likes and swiping right and texting is harmless fun, but when it comes to the idea of meeting a stranger, things are a little different.

To answer your question, men have to suffer a lot of rejection because women are bigger cowards than men are when it comes to putting themselves out there. They'd rather have men come to them than go out and find them, and they'd rather be the ones making the final say than to be at the mercy of someone else implying whether they are attractive enough or not through saying "Sure, I'd love to go out with you" or "Nah. I'm good."

Rejection is a tool for growth. I have personally experienced so much rejection in every aspect of my life but this has given me an unshakeable confidence. Rejection teaches you to stop looking for validation and acceptance from the outside world and to accept yourself and love yourself. I am so grateful I took action and was rejected so much because it led me to where I am now.

Don't view rejections as a failure of who you are as a person. Just take more action and look for the lessons you can learn from these rejections.

I do want to point out that dating apps are ironically a worse option for dating for most guys. You have a way higher chance at getting hookups and dates by sliding in the DMs or meeting people through friends and activities.

On tinder it's so easy to dismiss people at face value. It isn't everywhere else. On instagram, tiktok, snapchat or irl you have the opportunity to showcase yourself more and If you got some positives going for you she is way more likely to interact with you.

I've looked at some of my friends (women) dating apps and its crazy how many matches and messages they get no wonder everyone is getting ghosted and flaked on.

Damn. I don't try to talk to women because I'm afraid they take a simple hello the wrong way. I can't even look in a woman's direction without them thinking that I'm checking them out or trying to get at them. I guess women have to protect themselves though, but hate it when women assume that I'm out to get them.

Remember, OLD also skews in favor of looks. That’s basically all that’s being evaluated. People who connect in person and end up together are more likely to connect for reasons other than the looks of one party…you can really sense a person’s demeanor, confidence, sense of humor, etc.

I’m a very average looking guy, but get a decent about on matches on Hinge. But it also takes me a TON of swipes (on the ppl I find attractive) to get the matches that I do. It’s basically statistics lol. If you swipe on enough profiles there will be people out there you connect with who find you good looking and wanna go on a date.

It’s a failing game to get worked up on why it’s hard to get matches. You need to put in the work making a decent profile, maybe hit the gym, and accept that OLD doesn’t favor the 80% of average guys out there
