I was lucky to have joined this community in 2006. Back then there was more honesty about rejection.

I remember watching a video by Mystery where he said most women you talk to will reject you, but it's part of the process. He was considered the 'best' at the time. He also said he slept with 50 women over a 6 year period, and this was from going out 3 to 4 nights a week, approaching a lot. He didn't make some crazy claim that he slept with 1,000 women in 10 years (like some coaches today do).

I watched another video by Tyler Durden where he said he has plenty of nights where he goes out, talks to a lot of women, and gets rejected by all. But what separates him from others is he doesn't let this affect him.

Neil Strauss writes in The Game how most of the phone numbers that he, Mystery, and the others get, don't return their calls or go out with them.

I saw a video by Zan Perrion where he said he's not good at picking up a lot of women or getting a lot of numbers, and often he just aims to find the few he connects with.

I listened to an interview with AFC Adam where he said he gets rejected a lot doing cold approach and you have to accept it.

Paul Janka who's a really good looking guy, said he picked up about 4% of the women he cold approached.

All of them were old school gurus, but the point is, there used to be a lot more honesty about rejection, and this led to new guys not having unrealistic expectations. So they tried harder as they realize rejection is part of the process, so don't let it demotivate you.

Then this community became an industry for marketers to sell and make money. And honesty went out the window. A lot of new dating coaches say they get every woman they talk to, or they've slept with more than a thousand women. But then you watch their content, and you realize they are nowhere near as good as they claim to be. They're just lying to market and sell their products.

But this is harmful, as new guys who don't know any better will think they should be able to connect with every woman they talk to, and if they can't they are failures. They take rejection more seriously, beat themselves up, then quit.

They don't celebrate the wins, which can motivate them to take more action. Instead they think they should have done better. If they talk to 10 women and 1 woman goes on a date with them, instead of feeling happy and seeing this as evidence they're attractive, the guy thinks the other 9 women should have gone out with him as well. This then lowers his self esteem and motivation.

Some new guys also mistakenly think they need to sleep with a lot of women to prove their worth. You don't. You can sleep with just one woman, and if she makes you happy, she's all you need. It's about what makes you happy, not what will impress others.

I want new guys to realize that rejection happens to everyone, even the guys doing this for years. Don't listen to any coach who says he gets hundreds of women or is never rejected. Remember they are trying to sell products, and it's in their best financial interest to lie. But it's not in your best interest to listen to them.
