Whoa, you guys sure as hell are picky. Bad spelling is a deal breaker, seriously?

Mine would be being seriously shallow. You have these girls who do nothing but shopping, talk about boys all day with their friends, and have as their greatest passion 'hanging out with friends'.

This does not necessarily mean dumb by the way, you have some pretty smart girls that just somehow choose to be like this.

Oh, and, ironically shallowly, being fat :-)

For me the only absolute deal-breaker is a negative personality. A girl who is very insecure, or very prone to playing the victim, or prone to anger can turn me off permanently within a few minutes. On the other hand, a girl with a very happy or secure or positive attitude instantly goes up a few points in my book

I went out with a girl and she said she tried to watch 'Pan's Labyrinth' but turned it off when she realised it had subtitles. End of. And that goes for anyone else who dosen't read for pleasure. Dosen't have to be classics, I don't care if you just read chicklit. People that dont read for pleasure just don't consider their intellect an indulgence.

My deal breakers:

Low class swearing: the occasional fuck and shit is ok, but too much swearing is low class.
Negative language: calling people idiots, labelling, being rude, etc..
Being full of yourself: I can't stand girls who think they're hot shit.
Overweight: Sorry, if I'm not the least bit physically attracted to you, then you're no different than a guy friend.

An entitlement mentality. People who think they "deserve" something, and that it's your job to provide it for them. E.g. that girl who wanted her BF's phone, or my brother's ex who constantly wanted him to rearrange his life because she "deserved" skiing every weekend and a garage (seriously).

This should be a huge deal breaker for everyone. It is the deal breaker for me. It's a huge character flaw, it's annoying, it's high-maintenance as hell, and these people are FAR more likely to cheat ("he's not treating me as well as I deserve, I deserve to have some fun in my life," they will rationalize anything).

You both deserve what you make for yourselves. Never forget that.

Some of my dealbreakers: really religious, doesn't smoke weed, guys who judge women on sex partners/activity while praising sexually active male friends ("She's 21 and has had 11 partners? EWW slut") and Ravens fans :)

My main deal breakers are:

people who overly use the word "like" or other sentence fillers of the same class. Say what you mean and don't fill my ears with garbage please.

people who can't handle silence. Being able to comfortably sit with someone without background music, or feeling compelled to talk about anything just so there's conversation going on

Christians, and people who are religious in general, unless you're talking eastern religions. I'd rather not date someone who believes in the jibberish that comes from the bible. Evolution makes a little too much sense for me to discredit for the sake of "it's not what the bible says."

Essentially I'm trying to narrow down my women to those of higher thought processes, these three indicators really weed out pointless conversation with small minded people. Atleast, IMO.

Playing games with me (in courtship, there's always a bit of this, but women who are such bitches that they need to keep this up past that are not worth the time to me. part of setting a clear frame, i guess.)
overt rudeness. I used to hang with a lot of fairly unhappy people, and i realized later that they shared the common trait of being, in one way or another, rude. it's such a reflection of poor inner state.

Edit: 5: yeah, the wrong kind of religious is also there... Am I being too picky?

If I'm talking to a girl and notice at any point that she doesn't know what she wants, I move on. Could be as simple as trying to figure out how to spend a weekend. We can be friends, but indecisiveness just makes me feel like I'm wasting my time. I like people who want to take risks, are busy, and don't let things get to them.

No one's perfect and things wear on you, but I just don't have the time to wade or push people through their lives for any period of time.
