This is great. Only problem is with opening a group. I think that if you open just her it's not socially savvy. To enter into a group of friends and ignore everyone else seems a little strange. I prefer opening up the entire group befriending everyone, THEN going after your target. That has always seemed to work better for me.

I hate the idea of opening with a handshake. I like opening with some sort of kino, but shaking hands feels like a business deal to me.

As for the rest of the guide - solid read. The "list of qualities" section made me chuckle, because for anyone who's done formal interviewing in the business world this is exactly what you try to do. Pick a trait you want in the employee (adaptable, independent, etc) and then ask indirect questions that will have them explain situations in which they expressed those particular traits. I never thought to make the association between PU and interviewing, but it does make sense.

Holy shit.... I did the first part of this, mixed with an old trick I learned on handshakes and their importance.......

Fast approach, fast conversation. Best results.

ME: Hey, my names redacted HER: Hello, I'm redacted

We share an equal handshake.

ME: Wow! That's quite a handshake you've got. HER: Thanks? I guess? ME: I usually don't get a handshake quite so confident. HER: Oh! I hate giving people the deadfish. I had a boss that did that once, it was awful! All I could think the whole time was "Aren't handshakes supposed to be strong?"

I nodded.

ME: Yeah, yeah, no I can't stand that sort of thing. I haven't been out here long today. HER: Oh? It's Canada day, there's a lot going on.
ME: I heard, I was really interested to look around the booths. Is there anything good I should see? HER: Try the chip booth! They're homemade chips are amazing. (There's a booth here that sells homemade fries into the shapes of potato chips) ME: I haven't had lunch yet. That sounds like a good idea. Can you show me where it is? HER: Sure! Let me just tell my friends I'll be right back. ME: Okay.

I smile and she tells her friends she'll be right back. Then we proceed to walk to the chip booth.

ME: Oh, do you mind holding this for a second? (I hand her my iPod whilst I grab a twenty from my wallet) HER: Sure. (I get the money out and then take my iPod back) HER: Try the regular cut, it's the best. ME: The regular cut? I thought you said these guys were the best. (I laugh) HER: (She laughs) You're right! Here, try the large cut instead. ME: That's what I came here for! Something interesting! (We both laugh) HER: Aren't I something interesting? ME: Are you? Someone who knows the best stuff in the city? Of course you are! (We laugh again, then I check my phone) ME: Oh no, I can't stay very long. Can we talk again soon? You seem to really know your stuff. HER: Sure. ME: Here, put your number in my phone. We'll hang out next time we're with your friends. HER: I think they'd really like you. ME: Nice.

I then hand her some of the make-shift fries and I disappear into the crowd.

Number close, 5 minutes. BAM!

Seriously, this was a great source of info and tricks for anyone up to an intermediate level. I loved the part about actively trying to diminish the ASD and showing that you can be discreet.

Thanks. The newbie Mission ( saying hi ) gave me the energy to talk to girls again.

Yesterday i started the mission and it felt really good. I started saying hi to a few girls that passed by one of them said hi. Then i combined with saying hi and asking for the nearest bus stop or train station or complementing on their looks.
