Club dancing is all about feeling the music and mastering some basic movements. I learned how to dance purely from Youtube tutorials. I started out learning some basic moves, such as the two-step, pimp walk, dougie, and some toprock moves.

The key to all this honestly is simply practice. Learn some basic steps, do them over and over again every day until it feels completely natural doing them to music. Put on some of your favorite songs and practice to them every day. When the basic steps start to feel boring or too easy, look up how to do more complex movements online, or even make up some of your own moves. After doing this for a while, you'll fucking own whatever music comes on. I've been practicing this stuff for years, and whenever I dance in clubs, I always grab a lot of attention and get a bunch of random people telling me that I've got sick dance moves. There's really nothing much more to it than practice and experience.

I never took dance classes, but I learned good movement through other places which let's me dance to practically anything except electronic music which doesn't have a regular beat.

You got hip hop clubs, electronic clubs, and rock clubs.

HIP HOP

Hip hop dancing you pretty much want to ignore 90% of hip hop dance videos on YouTube. Half of your hip hop dancing you can learn by watching top rap videos and looking at what the rappers do. You can get some good tips from Sean Paul music videos, T.I. and DMX concerts, and French Montana music videos.

It's mostly moving your arms and torso while the legs and hips don't move much. You don't keep them in place like a statue but it is a little movement. You can also check out pickupdance on YouTube and his level 1 course for men is really good. Problem is once you get better his dance movement really isn't that good. But it's a greater starting place to get you moving in the first place.

Oh yeah... check out playersupreme night club dancing. His style is different from hip hop dancing and more what you might see as the "natural black dancing ability". He has groove. I think there are about 5 videos so make sure you find them all.

ELECTRONIC

A lot of electronic music I hear in most clubs have irregular beats and while it's hard for me to dance too, I can still dance better than most people there. Except for the pros who spend their whole life dancing electronic and can do all those special electronic dances.

If you watch Matt Steffanina on YouTube his freestyle video (not night club), that is actually a pretty good dance for electronic music as it's more upbeat. It doesn't work for hip hop dancing. His night club video which is basically the opposite dance move of his free style is good for hip hop.

Also check out the catgroove video by TakeSomeCrime. That's some awesome european electronic dancing but is advanced. I just do basic body movement, but if you like electronic he does have a tutorial or two to get you started. It will only get you started though and you'll be years away from his movement skill.

Not all electronic music have irregular beats and sometimes when I go the DJ places more beaty type electronic which I love.

ROCK

I started going to rock clubs after practicing in electronic clubs and the occassional hip hop one. It's really easy to just move the the beat if you're not listening to alternative rock anyway. It's got to be goth, industrial, that sort of thing. Once you learn the movement of the body you can dance to practically anything because you'll adjust your body to the type of music.

So forget the dance classes and just spend a lot of time checking out all the above information. You can take some dance classes and while they probably will go over the general idea of moving your body, you can easily find hip movement videos or step touch on YouTube. 95% of what dance classes teach you are technique, not principles of dancing. You'll learn to dance one style and when you hear different music you're fucked.

SPANISH

My current weakness is spanish dancing. A lot of it is technique focused as well but if you meet spanish people who have danced all their lives and haven't taken classes, they have the natural dancing ability they develop over time. So you don't really need the technique but if you take classes... THAT IS WHAT THEY WILL TEACH YOU.

So instead, check out "CORE Salsa" on YouTube and there are three lessons. Lesson one... two.. etc. if you need to type it in the search field. The guy is a professional salsa dancer and while this will only work with salsa.. it is very basic... very natural.. and very principle focused rather than technique focused. Those 3 videos are probably 15 mins combined and you'll be set with salsa for life once you learn it.

GEORDIE SHORE

It's only useful to watch this if you'll actually enjoy the show, because the scenes where you see two of the guys who dance good are very short. They are only a few seconds and very spare through the seasons. If you do enjoy the show, make note of the parts where they dance. I remember only two of the guys dancing good. The tan one and the one with the spikey hair who is very lean. The ones who are better with women than the other two guys. It's a 2 or 3 step beat with the torso similar the Matt Steffanina freestyle dancing, except they only move the torso. You can either go left and right, or you can go left, middle, right. Anyway, video studying can show it a lot better than I can type it.

Learn swing, girls love swing dancing and its SOOOOOO easy compared to salsa dancing. Plus you can whip it out in plenty of musical genres.

Salsa classes.

You probably won't bust out a lot of salsa moves, but the basics will absolutely help you with girls. I took a few beginner salsa classes and used it at the club. Blew the girl away.

It also helps because the classes are like 3:1 girls to guy, so girls are basically waiting for a partner to dance.

Hip Hop if you want to just groove and attract attention, but salsa really seals the deal in terms of partner dance.

I dated a girl who had five brothers, three of which bboyed like pros. I'm talking running up on each other and doing back flips into splits and hand stands. Crazy stuff. They taught me the basics, or at least what my body was even capable of. A few months of swing with her taught me how to grab a girl and spin her around to just about any music. We turned dead dance floors into a party before running out to the next place.

Find a swing dance club. Every decent sized city has one hidden away. At those places, everyone is teaching because everyone wants everyone else to have fun. A month or more with a few good leaders and you'll be grabbing the girl who doesn't have any clue how to dance off the side wall and leave her wondering how she just pulled that off.

Learn swing. It's a liberating dance style that will accomplish what you want.

Here is how I learned from a very Davy dancing fiend of mine. Start by "knowing" the music. In my mind there are a few kinds of music you will come across in the club. Namely trap music, Spanish music, and EDM.

An easy way to dance to all three is the side to side one two step. Try not to hop in the process and move to the music. The most important thing is to just be casual in the movement. Don't try or think too hard.

To kick it up a notch for trap music, stand in place and position your hands in front of you like you are holding two poles on subway train slightly above your head. The next step is to cross your hands and return to the train position. Do this in tune to the music.

Spanish music up a notch is simple. Instead of side to side, think side side hop then other side side hop. If you are female, the idea is to sway your hips. If you are male, focus on leading and moving with your chest. True skill comes with time.

EDM is the easiest. Think fist pump and/or bob your head. There is the "shuffle" and something with a hoola hoop but basics are just that.

Learn to shuffle and learn to cut shapes.

The purpose is not the learn the dance moves but to learn to move your body to a beat/ rhythm.

Once you are able to move your hands / feet / legs to a beat then you can now dance.

So like i said, learn to shuffle / cut shapes.

I'm going to be honest, I didn't really enjoy or understood dancing until I took some ecstasy at a rave 6 years ago. Now dancing makes sense to me and I LOVE dancing at the club now.

Anyway, the one thing that I've learned from this is that as long you are dancing and truly enjoying yourself and only for yourself, people will gravitate towards you, including girls. People want to have fun and they will naturally gravitate toward someone who is having a good time.

As far as dancing at the club goes, don't worry about girls. Just do your thing and dance away!

Start by trying to hit the big beats, and ignoring the smaller beats. Even this may take some concentration to a beginner to find the patterns.

Do yourself a favour and learn some of the basics from which modern dances have taken a lot of inspiration, like swing or charleston. They are both pretty easy when compared to other popular suggestions like salga or hiphop, and they can quickly provide you with smooth moves to pull that don't require too much movement or space (so you can pull them off in crowded clubs too)

I learned all my moves from YouTube channel called world of dance where the dancers from all over America compete! Even if single move do it, it better not doing nothing! Try nae -nae it's all the rage now! Not sure if I spelled it right! Good luck

It really depends on what type of clubs you are going to. Depending on the music style you can always look on the dancefloor for what moves people are using. What reactions they are getting and just replicate those moves later on in the night.

As far as dancing with girls, the basic spin move is pretty simple and there are a million videos to show you how. It's important to remember that girls like moves that emphasize the girl. For example a spin the girl move is all about the girl. The moving a girl side to side is all about them. The more you can emphasize the girl the more she will love you for it. Don't try to take too much of the lime light as that will put more pressure on you and you only got a few tricks in your bag. So simple pull out some tricks from time to time on key songs that you know well, other wise just do moves that make the girl do more of the work or make her feel like a princess. Good eye contact and grip are crucial as well.

Take a swing class or find a girl who is willing to teach you how to swing or country dance (2 step). You don't even have to learn enough to be good. If you can get the basic steps down and learn a few spin moves any girl who doesn't already know these dances will cream her pants when you start spinning and dipping her. Makes closing easy.
