So in a few days I'm going in my first date ever, probably heard that story a bunch of times on this sub already. So anyway, I don't really have too much of a problem with making conversation when it's already going on, the issue is, when she first arrives and we sit down, how do I avoid the annoying, awkward talk that happens when you don't know each other and don't want to bombard her with lame questions like "What do you do?" or "Where are you from?"

Like I said, I don't really know this girl, and the problem isn't small talk itself, is that I know I'm going to freeze or stay quiet in those starting moments because I literally have no idea what do say right after greeting her. Is there a way to make this smoother?
