Well, my whole shtick is authenticity, and it’s not really a shtick. I take pride in studying how to facilitate it and I’m huge on why it’s the best dating strategy, which is, of course, why I teach it.

If you find that you give compliments and people give you a bad reaction in return, if you achieve the opposite effect of what your compliment is supposed to do, if you come across as tryhard, insincere or creepy, I might have a suspicion as to why this happens.

Understand that even though you might not acknowledge it or even be aware of it, when you give a compliment, sometimes you have something in the back of your mind.

There are 2 ways to give out compliments, and one is through a clear head and the other is because you have some sort of an agenda.

Even though you might say the same words, the difference is in the rhythm of the convo. In the timing and the cadence.

And unconsciously, people pick up on it.

That’s why you’re getting bad reactions.

I describe an exercise here that’s called “throwaway compliments”

https://youtu.be/\_47kt\_e9SWc

It’s designed to get you to clear your head and make compliments to anyone, and have them come across as sincere, even if your opinion on what you’re complimenting isn’t the best.

In short, what you do is get out, walk past people and give them a compliment over the shoulder, expecting nothing in return. Do this for 7 days in a row. It will change A LOT OF THINGS but one of them will definitely be the way you deliver a compliment.

Go forth and conquer.
