I started a new job last year, so I had to do my rounds around the building where I introduced myself and chatted with the other workers.

As a nearly 40 year old woman, I know that there is always at least 1 man in any mixed group that takes professional or basic friendly socializing as something else. For example, “Bob”, who is one of my current coworkers, started purposely searching me out in order to chat. It was clear that he was trying to latch onto me and I had to shut it down. We don’t even work in the same area, so there was no reason for him to do this.

One day while I was working on my computer, he knocked on the door to my office, and I turned around in my chair to see who it was through the window in the door. I could see that he was dressed in his best, and I couldn’t possibly smell all of the cologne he was wearing through the closed door, but I could see it, if you know what I mean.

I waved hi, turned around in my chair, and kept working on my computer. I didn’t get up to unlock the door and speak to him, and I did it on purpose so that he would back off. This must have upset him, because he won’t even acknowledge me anymore.Today I said hi to him while passing in the hallway, and he wouldn’t even look at me or say anything back.

Why are some men like this? It’s not attractive at all.
