What do people think about saying something like "don't worry, I'm not hitting on you" after you approach? In person or online, dating apps or social media.

In a setting like a gym or workplace it seems like it cpuld help lighten the vibe but it would potentially make a man to woman dynamic more difficult in a general sense.

What do people think about let's say, using this to ask someone out for coffee/,drinks/a walk etc? You'd say, "don't worry, I'm not hitting on (endearing name blah blah)" after basically asking them out.

I've only tried a few times but I've actually seen pretty good responses so far - 2 out of 5 people agreeing to dates...
