I just went through this, im not over it at all but im coming to peace with it and worrying about myself and my needs. I have moments where id give anything to get my ex wife back, but i know in my heart that the right one wouldnt have just given up, wouldnt just let things go so easily. So my advice brother is to worry about you, finances, fitness, education, etc. GET YOU BACK. And in time it will all fall in place.

May I recommend getting a hold of a really good psychiatrist, not a therapist! Get a hold of a good Psychiatrist and start to work on your self-respect and self-worth, as soon as she cheated, if you would’ve had self-respect and self-worth, You would’ve ended the marriage right then and there, life is a learning experience and a painful one at that. You haven’t gotten through the acceptance phase of healing yet, you have to get to the next phase, which is anger, she disrespected you and made you a fool four years ago with her cheating, you need to get out of the bubble so you can clearly look at your past with her and see how bad it was and not desire her anymore, why would you desire somebody who disrespects you? it’s a tough lesson, We all had to learn, get yourself a psychiatrist and compartmentalize and talk through your own self-respect, you gave yourself a way to her at a very, very deep discount, never do it again.

my ex says nothing to me other than if it’s about the kids. she treated me like absolute dog shit and never said sorry or showed any remorse blowing up our family and still projects her insecurities onto our children. and i can honestly say that over 2yrs separated/divorced there aren’t days i miss her so so much.

I’m going through phases of being content and appreciating that’s the misery is over… and then I get sucked back into her games. Last week she was talking my ear off. This week I get random and late responses to my texts about the kids. I think it’s just my own loneliness playing games in my head.

I also cannot force myself to see anything else than those good times and positive memories. Makes it only even more painful. My therapist is constantly surprised that I am not angry at my wife at all for ruining everything and then leaving without any remorse, instead I'm just sad and remembering the good stuff. He says the anger would be good and cleansing.

It's strange how similar people's experiences and feelings can be in situations like these. I feel you, man. I hope you get through this all stronger somehow eventually and find peace in the end.

hindsight is NOT 20/20 - it's looking through rose-colored glasses - nostalgia is powerful, memory is selective. Keep reminding yourself of the truth before your brain and heart lead you down the primrose path called memory lane.

But yeah, totally normal and very annoying at times.
