I’m not even going to ask my lawyer this question because he’s a putz. Just looking for input from guys who have maybe been in my situation.

Married 8 years, separated 2, not officially divorced yet. She’s been living with her boyfriend for 18 months so she’s not entitled to alimony.

My question: am I?

I have made less than her for half of our marriage. We moved to a new area for her job and she made about $30k more than me. After we separated I was laid off and started my own business. I now make about $40k more than her. When we separated she took a job closer to home making about $20k less.

So… would I be entitled to alimony because the time we were together I was making much less? Or would I be screwed because she took a lower paying job and I’m making more? I have no shame in it since she moved in with another man like nothing happened and she’s living cushy. Just bought a $40k car after trading in the van we owned together. Meanwhile, I’m struggling on one income.
