"Swing left" might be a reach. The data presented just shows that people don't like Trump which comes as no surprise. And with a lack of any real left-wing options people would normally just go to the dems instead but they're not popular either. In fact the only thing they have going for them (and foundationally all they ran on the last few elections) is that they're not Trump.

This also isn't helped by the fact liberal and even actual left-leaning groups don't do a whole lot for men. The right paid lipservice and that was enough to garner support. The left is too small time, and third parties rarely do well in the states even with the two parties having abysmal support, so it's up to the democrats to extend an olive branch but of course they're not going to. They always fumble it.

On a separate note this part:

YouGov data shows that even though young men are clearly watching a variety of political content, less than 40 percent of them say they actually enjoy content about "Politics." They prefer comedy, gaming content, sports, etc. which often has political undertones to it—or serves as an onramp to a political worldview via seemingly innocuous “cultural” content—but does not give the viewer or listener the overt impression they are digesting “political” content.

Echos a noticeable trend about culture recently. People don't like preachy content. A lot of consumable media over the last 10 years has been just that. Lacking a lot of subtly and it beats you over the head. People like when things are presented to them, this "onramp" they mention, people don't like having things shoved into their faces. Politics has become very tactless, in your face, and obnoxious. There's no easy-handed approach with it and this reflects in "cultural" content. That association isn't lost on people.

You all remember what the left did to the Bernie Bros? A decade ago you had a left leaning awakening in young men that were supporting Bernie and the rest of the left had to paint Bernie as some sort of secret racist in order to stamp it down. And I'm starting to hear those same arguments being dusted off for AOC/Bernie's stop the oligarchy tours. "Those crowds tend to be a certain color".

The rightward shift of young men in the West has been an established phenomenon for some time now. Much was especially made of it after Donald Trump's victory last November. However, less than 100 days into the presidency, recent polls have shown a rapid drop-off in young male support for Trump relative to other demographics. This article goes into some of the reasons why. The big one, I think, is that "Trump Is Not Addressing Young Mens’ Most Important Issues," namely, inflation and cost of living. Young male alienation won't be alleviated by higher prices and a sense that they just got stiffed.

What do you think of this encouraging news? Why else might this be? I'm neither a young man, nor an American, so perhaps you have a better idea of why this is.

So this is a graph made by group that's explicitly affiliated with the Democratic party:

- they have an act blue donate link in their description

- their goal is to "engage young men on progressive issues"

My guess would be that this is just Democratic-party nonsense. If you torture data hard enough, you can make it say whatever you want it to say.

Plus, recall that in 2016 and 2024, polls were saying that the Dems were going to win, and then they lost. So "here's a good-news graph for the Dems" may not actually reflect reality.

Thats the sad irony of it is they don't care right or wrong just voters. So the older voters screwed by the system need to basically vote just to nullify those.

My hope has been that Trump is so terrible that it bypasses the wider left's inability to right their missteps with men.

I predict men are most likely to swing to "not vote". In order to swing to the left our colleagues who hate men but love capitalism (as long as it ponders to women) would need to reform.

Honestly, at this point, I feel like the best thing that could happen at this point is that younger male voters swing towards the center and into more moderate positions. I'm not saying this because I lean left of center on the political spectrum as a 36 year old Millennial, I'm saying this because I personally think we need more moderates in general. I have seen the extremes of both sides when they are in control and both extremes are not good in different ways. I'd rather we have people in the middle ground who can see things on both sides and make decisions accordingly.

I'm more interested in finding out if the US is still going to have more impactful elections than Russia and Hungary, going forward.
