I (27M) went out with a girl (21F) I met on a dating app. We met at a bar. Almost immediately, the vibe was off. I tried to start a conversation, asking open-ended questions, but she wasn't asking anything back and was giving very short answers. It felt like I was interviewing her, and she just looked uncomfortable and was giving me a lot of awkward smiles.

We ordered drinks, and while we were waiting, I just knew I couldn't sit there for an hour trying to force a conversation that wasn't going anywhere. I felt like it was more respectful to be honest and end it early rather than drag it out and waste both of our time. So, I told her directly that I didn't feel a connection, and that I wasn't going to stay. She was looking me visibly uncomfortable. I understand dating nerves are normal, but I just couldnt see me making the convo for 50 + minutes. I need to see some engagement at the beginning.

This is where it got super awkward. She got visibly angry and started telling me she had gotten ready for this date and was tired from work. I tried to explain that I was physically attracted to her, but that chemistry and connection just weren't there for me. It was a tough situation for both of us, and she was clearly upset. I eventually left after she said a cold "good night" to me.

So, was I wrong for cutting the date short and being honest about not feeling a connection after only 10 minutes?
