It's not just the conscription, it's also the freedom to travel. Ukrainian women are free to leave Ukraine.

Ukrainian men from the age of 18-60 are not allowed to leave the country. The borders are closed, have razor wire, are patrolled by people and drones, and yes Ukrainian men have been killed trying to escape the country.

It comes across as a male open air prison, akin to North Korea tbh.

Yes indeed, we can notice that the discourse concerning the mobilization of men has evolved following the situation on the ground. At the beginning the media widely covered the recruitment of men and interviewed those who volunteered, sometimes returning from abroad to enlist. Well, the military situation quickly deteriorated, and to put it simply, there are not many men volunteering for the front anymore.

So they started to do forced conscription. And by force, this means that, sometimes, it is a real manhunt that takes place with the military in charge of recruitment using any tricks to trap any man in physical condition to fight (this includes in some cases very young men, despite the fact that officially they are still exempt).

Of course this is mostly hidden in the western media, which focuses on the damages to the civilian population and infrastructure, and mostly keeps quiet about the situation on the front and the human catastrophe that is taking place there.

The only time the fate of the men is mentioned is when they have an opportunity to blame those who were able to get out and took refuge in Poland or Germany for instance. There, they are asked if they are not ashamed to be there, and many tricks have been sued to force to come back.

At the same time there are articles that cover the potential end of the conflict from the angle of the problem caused by the men coming back from the front. The demobilization of men could cause social problems and even unrest according to some because of their supposed inability to come back to civilian life.

In fact, for a man fit for conscription, there are three options (1) to be at the front, and in this case to be the disposable asset that will be forgotten once dead. (2) being able to run away and in this case being seen as a coward who should be ashamed (3) being a conscript returning from the front alive and in this case being seen as some kind of a systemic problem to public order and being treated as such...

It is no different from all the countries that have male only conscription or are planning to bring it back. There is no solid argument for drafting only men in a world that is obsessed with "equality"and denies that male only conscription is the epitome of sexism.

yeah I was on a flight to Dubai from Germany recently and it was full of young Ukrainian women. Somehow I'm guessing they're collecting welfare in Germany as refugees while at the same time doing some "work" in Dubai.

It is sad that they are forcing men to fight, and crazy that they would allow women to leave the country.

I think this country will survive the war but will disappear due to the lack of women. Most of them will not return to Ukraine, and no order will change that.

I hate war in general. No men or women should be forced to fight.

War is a form of massive violence and aggression against other group of people dictated by the selfish leadership.

The leadership that wanted the war should be at the front lines. I bet you they will try to find a peaceful solution.

Those who argue that woman are just not that great soldiers, all our lives we heard about how women are discriminated among police, firefighters, military and all that jobs that requires physical strength, men in these profession in the name of equality have to work with those woman who in reality cant really make their jobs i saw 1 criminal beating 3 polivewoman videos so yes women should be conscripted.

Hate to break it to you but there are tons, TONS of women fighting in combat positions in the Ukrainian army, entire battalions of them. The sniper with the highest number of kills in Ukraine is a female, and she was operating until she was 8 months pregnant. One of the most deadly and effective drone units? Also entirely female, their battalion name is "The Battle Witches".

They many not be conscripted as men are, but the amount of men in Ukraine who voluntarily try to evade duty is nearly 0.

This isn't a well researched talking point.

I thought we wanted only people who were strong enough to fight in armies? Now we want the women to join us? Hell no. Don’t conscript people who don’t want to be there in the first place. If you sign up for the military, you don’t want to be next to someone forced to be there. They won’t do a good enough job.

Had half a million women be sent to be sitting ducks in the same place where the previous staff shipments didn't even arrive at the "front" and alive, peace would have followed. Can't have peace. Need to expand NATO to protect the banksters and the arms dealers. And all the politicians that took the sweet bribes. Ukraine is the most corrupt country in Europe with the largest military and a strong tolerance to nazi (actual swastika) sentiments. It's a tradition embraced before WW2 already. Still alive. They still hate the Russians that did a lot more against the nazis than tge Johnny Come Lately West. Gave way more lives.

Females should not be put into combat. Even on a voluntary basis. SOME females MIGHT be able to physically do the job but even less have the ability to turn emotions off and compartmentalize the situations they're in. Which can affect life and death decision making.
