There was a post on another sub about a woman drowning her newborn baby in the toilet and all the comments were showing infinite sympathy to her about how scared she must have been and not even mentioning the baby. And if you said that drowning a fucking baby in a toilet is evil they’d just snark on you like “oh, so you’re gonna criticize a woman when she was scared, chud?”

Manslaughter is the killing of another person through reckless behavior where no harm was intended. Smothering a young child with a pillow and leaving a note to not resuscitate clearly involves intent to do harm.

Hopefully the jury will rule this to be the murder it clearly is.

There was a woman in Italy who killed her own baby for being autistic. Thousands of messages of support, I kid you not. And obviously it was the State's fault as well as the patriarchy's for not helping her, it wasn't that in the animal kingdom the female priorities the well being of her strong offspring at the expense of the others, especially first born ones.

Recently a woman drowned her child in a river here where I'm from. You wouldn't believe the amount of people coming up with justifications. It must have been to hard for her, you don't know how she felt, maybe she wasn't ready to have a child and had some other things in her life etc. I got downvoted for saying if a man did it the entire country would want him dead. People just can't accept that these double standards exist and women aren't universally poorly treated by the society.

Yup, they make a million excuses post partum this or that. Like they don't think a man who kills his child is mentally ill? Of course he is. Sane people do not kill their own children deliberately.

This is what happens with the modern mindset around abortion. It's not about legality or lack thereof; it's about a demand for unquestioning support of the right to never be inconvenienced in any way. Remember the days of "safe, affordable, and rare"? When the advocates sounded reasonable and sane when looked at objectively?

Those days are gone, and this is the consequence of what followed them; limitations being called "attacks on womanhood" by people who'd loathe you forever if you said being a woman was about having babies.

It's quite intentional, too; all the better to keep us at one another's throats. Don't believe me? Look past at the first sentence of this comment. Feel that bristling in your emotional core? (Well, some of you will, anyway). That's how deep it runs; a mere questioning of the relative values placed on life and liberty is felt as a threat.

It's a sign of the need to periodically pause and reflect on what we're doing and why.

It's a tolerated reality that women murder infants sometimes. It should be identified as a problem publicly and I think there should be awareness campaigns that help people identify unstable mothers or any women with regular access to children.

That said, I don't think it would be ok to shame women for this kind of thing - women deal with a lot of sh*t. But men could be educated to support women with protecting children in mind maybe.

I think there should be more awareness of where men can and should take the lead in the home and society. Universal values, setting good example, duty of care to all etc.

Yes, you'd have to read the science on it to understand. This isn't the space for that. After doing so, you could possibly add your 2 cents to cited info but just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks shows how uninformed so many complainers are. When they have a valid complaint to some particular point of contention and argue it skillfully, it lands different. Try that angle going forward.
