Watch a family movie, comedy etc. Why is it the father is mostly portrayed as this clueless, bumbling simpleton, who needs to be told by the wife what do to.

The man is clueless on how to run a house, manage kids and is only good for mowing the lawn and barbecuing. Even in cases where he is a single dad.

Let him make a small mistake (like not take the trash out) he goes thru hoops just to make amends.

You never see the women portrayed in that light, especially having to "make up" for some perceived wrong.

Interestingly when a women is portrayed as a "career woman" or a single mom. She's portrayed as been able to do all flawlessly. (Even mowing the lawn which is never shown lol). And when she can't its usually because of "man" giving her a hard time.

Ok what's the point of my whole rant.

Just that the deck is stacked against a man. Subtle cues for years been planted in the general societies mind to the man's detriment, so much so that many don't even know what a good man is any more.
