Are you trolling or serious? Jordan Peterson is a joke. He just uses performative backgrounds, some buzzwords, and no actual substance. He will make claims about being responsible, which is nice and all. Oh hey, you over there, be responsible; wow! I'm an expert now!

JP surrounds small kernels of psychological truth and advice your parents could give you with a bunch of non-science-and-non-research-based mumbo jumbo. His popularity is mainly due to his strong oratory style, self-confidence, striking facial features, and his conservative political talking points.

Last year he hosted some conference funded by big oil companies where he got a fat kickback check pushing that climate change is not real. Huh? He's a psychologist. What does he know about climate science. Why would he host it? There's a hundred examples of this.

What's dangerous about him is that some of the stuff he says seems kind of valid, but then when you look at the research, it turns out that it's a lot more nuanced and complex. He's like a gateway drug to the manosphere, people like Andrew Tate, general misogyny, conservative politics, and fascism. He absolutely hated Justin Trudeau and couldn't stop criticizing him, but he has the faintest criticism of Donald Trump. Seems like an objective observer could probably have at least an equal amount of observations and criticisms on both fronts. Sometimes his advice and "truths" are conservative politics dressed up as psychology. If that's your bag, cool, but:

If you are trying to establish a healthy relationship with a woman, he's probably not the place to go. There may be tidbits of wisdom here and there, but unless you know a lot, and I mean a lot about the research, it's easy to get fooled and accept some his fallacies that in the end will turn you into female repellent.

I studied psych, he studied psych, one of things you learn is how to influence people.

He is full of shit, and he knows he is full of shit, but he knows how to use big words. That is actually one of the things they teach you to stop using, bc you are working with people, and you need to be able to translate complex subjects to your average Joe. Combine these two skills and you have a very powerful grifter tool.

Just Pearly Things also studied psych and she does the same, tho her style is more rage bait while Peterson's style is more educational and pretending all he says is based on "expertise" but it is still just trust me bro science.

He could very well be a good psychologist, but i wouldn't know because grifting makes him more money than working at university or being a therapist.

In my opinion, there was a golden era of Jordan Peterson in the very beginning. Listening to his content genuinely put mine and my brother lives on a better path back around 2015, because he was tender but firm. He didn’t demonize laziness in the same way a lot of the harsh men around us were doing. He gave explanations, and a specific pathway out.

Shortly after his skyrocket to fame however, he really sold out to the manosphere/hustle porn culture. This became much more pronounced after he sought treatment for his opioid addiction where he was put into an induced coma in Russia.

A psychologist friend liked him before he became an influencer. I do think he did some good psychologist work from what I have heard by my friend, but that is not what he is known for or what he bases his opinions on, I think.
