Yesterday I posted about taking back the lead in my marriage. It's been a slow process. Today I'd like to post about our finances.

We bought a new car on Monday. It's awesome. Our van broke down on Sunday and it's shot. But I did show tremendous leadership in how I handled the situation. Wife was extremely distraught at the fact that we were now down to one car, a 2002 Honda with 197k miles on it. But I was not upset in the least. Little did she know I was already planning on buying a brand new car.

I have been working on a general ledger to keep better track of how we spend our money. Our monthly automatic payments have been noted and I know exactly when each bill is being deducted from our account, how much money we have to spend on food, and how much money we'll have left over.

We've never been big on planning ahead as we have always had enough money to pay our bills, rent, and buy food. I knew I we needed a new car but wasn't convinced we could afford the payments. Well, after keeping a ledger and planning ahead, I found that we could easily afford the new car.

Last night I showed her the ledger, and I discussed with her the plan for the next two months. I could feel the stress just melt away from her. She was so relieved that, finally, someone took control and started planning ahead. I'll admit, it's a relief for me too. But where the hell have I been for the past 8 years?? Wtf was I doing? I was spending like moron was what I was doing.

So, I showed her every bill, when its due, and she was elated. She told me that 110 dollars a week is more than enough for groceries. She couldn't believe how easy it was for us to pay for this car. I felt good. I felt that I eased her mind so much. I felt like I made another step in solidifying my leadership role in this family.

In the evening, after shopping was done, after we ate dinner, I put the kids to bed and when I came back out of their room, she was pretending to sleep on the couch. She was wearing these pajama pants that had a hole torn in the crotch. I put my face right in there and 30 seconds in, she tore her pants off. We went at it on the couch, then she threw me down to floor and had herself 3 orgasms. She had enough and then finished me off with an excellent bj.

So, my final thought is, by having your finances under control, it not only shows that your are in control of your money and capable of leading, but it also relieves the stress of not exactly knowing how much money you'll need for the week or month, or next two months. Less stress=great sex.
