Stats: Married with kids. Been upping SMV for 4 months (already started from a good position, fyi.)

Situation: Yesterday the wife was being a little shitty, being disrespectful to me in front of the kids and others. I handled it well, but she tried to revive it again later in the evening. I squashed it immediately, she went off to bed without a word, I went on my merry way and had a great evening to myself.

I had already been thinking about going out of town soon for work, but hadn't decided if I wanted to yet. I figured this was as good a time as any, so this morning I informed her I would be going out of town for a day or two, gave no explanation.

Question: I didn't give an opportunity for discussion, but I'm sure later it will come up. What is the proper move? Do I let on that her behavior had something to do with me leaving? Do I let her leave it up to her own judgement (she might not make the connection)? If she asks directly if her behavior has something to do with it, and I say it does, I can imagine that will make me look weak, right?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to recover and benefit based on the current situation. Any advice appreciated!

EDIT:

Man, you guys are rough... Just telling it the way it is and asking for advice.

Clarification: I am going out for work, but it is at my option, meaning I go if I feel like it, since I'm the boss. If she was being better I would probably stick around this week. Also, I did say it was for work, but gave no further details.

The way I saw it I have the choice of: 1. Let it go (I expressed immediate dissatisfaction, but that is it) and make no long-term gains, since there was no significant penalty 2. throw a fit like a BP pussy, forcing her into a protracted pissing match with eventually everyone having to apologize for something 3. Speaking with actions to give some negative feedback on the behavior, hopefully moving the needle in the right direction.

To me #3 made sense, but by some of the comments I'm wrong, so please enlighten me.

Thanks!
