This one has been coming up repeatedly for me lately, and I've tried deflecting it several ways, but figured I'd get the board's feedback

H: "You do whatever you want all the time, and I just exist to make that happen for you"

Context is, as things have continued to be cold at home, I've started to build a life separately. I'll leave the house 1-2x per week to go do something in the evening with friends. Vast majority of the time its after I've fed, bathed, and put our kids down - but occasionally it will leave her doing some portion of that. But either way, she stays home alone in the evening while the kids are in bed. Which is not unlike when I am home and she sulks off into the bedroom alone and asks me to leave if I come in there to hang out. But, I digress.

I've told her several times (in unrelated conversations) she has an open invite to do the same (leave in the evening with advance notice, and I will stay home with the kids), but she never takes me up on it. When I remind her of the offer she'll say "easy to say", and has before told me if she would leave it would "cause problems " but of course she never leaves.

This scenario keeps coming up for me, no matter how I respond. Have you guys faced similar test when you developed some independence? And how did you find best to put it to bed?
