Wife goggles. It's real. However, YOU must maintain them. Of course, work hard to maintain your appearance, but looks always fade. More than your appearance, is your respect for him. Continue to respect him and the wife goggles will stay put.

My husband says that he loves my body as it is now more than ever (unprompted, I should note). I am 25lbs heavier than our wedding day (in all fairness I was a good 10lbs underweight) and have had three kids. This means saggy skin above my pelvic bone and boobs that are...huge (talking H-J cup range). Not to mention the stretch marks. I really don't understand how he likes my body as compared to when we got married. But one of the reasons I married him was his honesty so I trust him when he says that he does.

I’m sure some do. There are no absolutes, though. I for one love my wife now more than ever, and find her even more attractive now than 6 years ago. I find growth attractive. She has had two kids, and looks better now than ever before. An 18 year old may look great, but they didn’t do anything to look that way. A 30 year old looking like a snack... now that’s earned.

First, men’s SMV fades as well. Not as pronounced or as quickly but it’s a downward trend.

But a healthy LTR requires SMV and RMV. If one is lagging, make damn sure the other is not. Jealously guard your high opinion of him. Always be looking for new reasons to admire and respect him.

When men do a cost/benefit analysis of a relationship [ie whether to stray], everything goes on the scale.

If you are a shrill harpy who gets fat, yes, expect him to lose attraction to you.

If you work on being sweet, kind, yet assertive, while maintaining your health... Things will be fine.

Looks might be one of the most important things that pull you together, but it's not what keeps you together. There are some famous examples of men who have cheated their young, beautiful wives with older, uglier women (think Prince Charles). How often does an unfaithful husband explain that he did it because his wife has become ugly and old? No, mostly it's the lack of respect, sex, connection.

But, as always, choose your husband wisely. I don't mind at all if my husband looks at other women. Sometimes I pull his sleeve while we are out and I see some exeptionally beautiful female specimen that I don't want him to miss. I would never have married a guy who I don't trust 100%.

I can tell you my experience from a guys perspective, if it helps.

27m here experiencing a loss in attraction to my 27f gf, and feel shit about it.

I love my girl, deeply and think she’s amazing in so so many ways, the sex is out of this world too, but I can’t help but notice the fact that she’s aging and it really has an effect on me.

The way I see it is we men chose our mate mostly on beauty, the rest are like bonuses. And when you start to lose the one thing that got you attracted in the first place, it makes things really hard.

I’m constantly torn on whether to stick with it or break it off. Despite the fact that she’s a good looking girl, I think the fact that she’s visibly ageing and is quite the alpha women, makes me feel she would honestly find it hard to find another good mate.

I stick with it however because I can’t think of anyone better to be the mother of my kids one day, so I look at the future instead of the now.

I also think she’s aware of how she’s ageing and it’s played on her self confidence. For example she sees me hang out with very beautiful girls on my IG stories, but I somewhat feel embarrassed about showcasing my gf these days. I’m constantly tempted by hotter, younger girls, and find myself in battle with myself over it.

It’s a tough one really, and would love to hear from others in a similar boat.
