How do you manage to stay elegant and feminine when you have wavy/curly hair?

I grew up with super curly Irish red hair that would frizz out into a fro. I was often bullied for it and sometimes people would ask me if I was a boy because of my hair! so I felt deeply insecure and had it chemically straightened. After I graduated high school I let it go natural again and began to braid it nightly. I don’t use shampoo, I just use Doctor Bronners soap in the rose scent. I also only use a little conditioner and rely on mostly almond oil and my favorite essential oils to keep it moisturized and smelling good. This keeps the curls together so I look classy and put together with very little effort. I shower at night and let it dry a bit before my braid it into Dutch braids. Every morning I just take out my braids and pick my style for the day. I hope this helped. I grew up with a hairdresser mother who helped as much as she could, so I was incredibly lucky.

I read somewhere that men are more attracted to SHINY hair rather than straight or curly hair. So maybe focus on your hairs moisture and shininess, naturally curly and healthy hair is a VERY attractive trait.

My hair is past curly, it's actually afro textured since I'm black. I'm married now, but prior to that, I had no problem attracting men or being seen as feminine and elegant. Quite the opposite. My hair is a showstopper. I make sure to keep it healthy, shiny and full. When I wear my hair straight, I do the same = healthy, shiny, full. I take hair vitamins and make sure not to over-shampoo my hair.

Gosh, I think of curly/wavy hair as the epitome of feminine. It's a "wow" moment for me that others don't. But alas, I don't have waves or curls, so I guess I see it as the grass being greener on the other side type of thing.

I would focus on keeping yourself clean and neat. Curly hair does not make you less elegant or feminine.

Curly hair is most definitely feminine and elegant. Personally my partner loves running his hands though my hair. Just figure out a good routine (it takes a bit of experimenting) that makes your curls nice and strong and shiny. And avoid anyone who tells you that your natural God given hair makes you less attractive, that's the start of a slippery slope with a bad captain.

I rock a daily fro! Its about confidence. So many people straighten their curls because they think curls are unattractive. The women who wear it with pride are seen as confident and stand out because little people do it 👑

I have wavy hair. I use a curly girl like method. It’s been a huge improvement! My hair is shinier and way more healthy.

Moisturize it! put it in a cute ponytail or buns with front pieces of hair out. I like to wear a floral hair scarf if I’m wearing it down.

Taming curly hair, from hearing anecdotes, is hell that is much out of your control. Instead, I suggest you look up role models with curly hair. Currently I can think of the character Claire from Outlander, who has wild curly hair but is perhaps the most elegant/composed woman figure I can think of. It depends a lot on how you dress and carry yourself. Obviously, work out too to have a good body. Woman with great body + curly hair is perhaps the very picture of feminine.

I use a leave in conditioner to tame the frizz & go over the ends and fringe area with a hair straightener. Works wonders.

Curly hair is unfeminine? News to me. I have long naturally curly hair and it is a conversation starter, show-stopper and men respond favorably to it.

There are millions of resources online to help you enhance your hair's beauty. If it's been damaged by years of heat and/or chemicals, you'll have to be patient.

Follow curlyhair on reddit, it changed the way I treat my hair and it looks so amazing now! People ask if I've had my hair done up at the hairdresser, nope! I follow cgm and it's been really beneficial.

The curly girl method helped a lot. Also in accepting my hair the way it is. Curly hair is stubborn. You never really know what you‘ll get. The way I look at it now is that I make the best out of it and forgive myself if it doesn‘t look as neat as I‘d maybe like it to be. If you‘re well groomed and polished in all other regards it serves as a twist of personality. An approach french women take.

Tbh your natural hair shape will always look best but you got to take care of it properly so it looks best for the way it is. There’s a lot of resources online about how to look after each type of hair

If you have naturally curly hair, especially if you're black, men won't actually like the permanent straight hair, assuming you're considering this question for a man

Curly and afro hair does not equal "not elegant"

Make it nice, clean it, style it, put effort in it and you'll be fine

I have fine hair with a wave with bits of frizz from baby hairs at the front. I pay to get it chemically straightened every 7 to 8 months. Worth the money. I can swim in the ocean and brush my hair and it will dry straight and you feel like a goddess. Its dark and a long and I always get compliments on my shiny hair. Even when I get hot my ponytail remains silky and straight. I just blow it and once it starts to grow out from the roots which actually give it a bit of body, I just straighten the front how I want it with my ghd. Minimal effort.

Calia shampoos and conditioners (but the Balancing ones in particular) have been a godsend. I swear. I am re-buying for life unless I someday find something even more amazing. They're a little pricy, but natural and have made my good hair days go up so much. I air dry and use a 100% silk pillowcase. Jojoba oil and rose hip seed oil are also great. I have a wooden hair brush, but mostly finger brush pre-shower w/ a tiny bit of oil or in the shower with the conditioner. It has good slip. In terms of styling elegantly and femininely... I'm at a loss and hope to get some good advice from the other comments.
