Most women don't actually know what 6ft is though.

[–]12FAM0US 54 points55 points56 points 12 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

yea i am 5'11" and i get the "omg ur so tall" all the time from short girls. when they estimate my height i get anywhere between 5'9" and 6'2" so they really have no idea. they just want a guy to tower over them, and bonus points if you tower over other guys. at just under 6foot i tower over 90% of girls and like 60% of guys and it never was an issue dating-wise. i also prefer very petite girls so that helps. the "at least 6foot" maxim just has a nice ring to it, i dont think girls are walking around with tape-measures

Stay out of Germany if you don't want to feel short.

[–]FallenHighSchoolJock -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Average height in Germany is 5'10?

[–]Samson2557 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. I had a girlfriend who was quite tall once. She told me 'I love how you're taller than me'.

I was perhaps not more than 1 or 2 inches taller than her at most.

[–]peoplearejustpeople9 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Holy shit; we're like twins. I am 5'11" and I hate tall girls.

[–]gregmolick 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

I'm 5'10" and girls never tell me I'm tall. I guess 5'11"+ = tall.

[–]12FAM0US 62 points63 points64 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

stand up straight and stop talking to giant bitches

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

stand up straight

Fuck. This is so important. I don't know why, but so many guys slouch. Not only does it make them look like a defeated bitch, but they also seem a few inches shorter!

Stand up straight, don't slouch, and don't drag your fucking feet. Don't look down because your body has a propensity to follow the direction you're looking. This alone will make a huge difference in how people perceive you.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

but so many guys slouch

Not enough exercise for their back muscles, stuck in chairs all the time with crap back support, it carries its toll. Tall guys are at increased risk of back problems, another reason why the gym is so important.

[–]1myTRPaccount 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm 5'11 and also have never been told I'm tall. The thing is, women really don't understand how tall 6' is. I've had short girls tell me I'm as short as 5'7 up to 6'1.

[–]WastedPotential 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm 5'11" and get told I'm tall by girls all the time.

[–]1myTRPaccount 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's only ever happened to me once and that was a few months ago by a girl who was only 5'. My current plate, who is 5'5, told me she thought I was 5'7-5'8 only a few weeks ago.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. I also am 5'11 and girls have consistently said I'm tall or the 'perfect height' but that's not coming from amazon women

[–]tai376 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Congrats boys, did you all want to jerk each other off after the pissing contest?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well after a good piss, don't you want a handy? You maybe want to cup my balls, Napoleon?

[–]RoamingAmber 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Stereotypes vs reality. I've listened to girls all my life detail the "perfect" man as tall, throw out a random measurement as their ideal, then go out and five minutes later describe a tall man as too lanky or skinny and shower their attention on a well proportioned guy of average height.

When I worked in the modeling industry, the men were typically 5'10" or 11", usually topping out at just a hair over 6'. The 6'6" pipe dream this article is throwing out there doesn't take into account that most people are looking for overall distribution and proportion, not a giraffe. Tall women give more of an impression of being leggy and slender than their shorter counterparts, but that's not necessarily an asset for a man. The men most women gravitate toward are well built, and that's a harder look to achieve the taller you get.

[–]drallcom3 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm 6'6 and you need a lot of mass to look good at that height. I'm talking about 100kg at 12% BF. It's not easy, but it's very easy to be a fat giant or a creepy slenderman.

[–]SenorPuff -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

220lbs @6'6" would be pretty thin. I'm 205 @ 5'11", and I still want to gain.

[–]drallcom3 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

120kg would be optimal, but then all those manlets would really hate you ;D

[–]manwhy 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

6'4" 120kg looks like this. Hop on that gear, bro.

A sacrifice to the Automoderatorbot.

[–]SenorPuff 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

6'4" 258 lbs looks like this--Brian Urlacher-- if you aren't on gear. It's functional strength.

Here's several near 6ft. bodies in the 220 pound range, that are perfectly fine goals

[–]haltingstate 1 points1 points1 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Male models and actors are usually shorter and have smaller frames. Especially in fashion.

[–]RoamingAmber 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Average is just shy of 6', but you see guys a hair taller as well. It's a decent height range to optimize muscle and tone without looking compact and bulky.

[–]Sunshinelorrypop 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

They have absolutely no idea, nor do men.

I'm always told I'm 6'2'' or 6'1'' but in actuality, I am 5'11''. This is because many people that are 5'8'' are always lying about being 5'11'' and to make their bs congruent, it means I have to now be 6'2''. Most guys accept this because it's a positive lie but I like my height so I tell them they are full of shit.

Women are even worse at guessing heights, probably because most males they talk to round up their height a few extra inches.

[–]Cyhawk 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm 64. Its a rare day I have to look up to someone that isn't my step dad. I've been told by guys that are easily 6 inches and shorter than me they're 61 or above. If the top of your head us below my nose, you aren't 6ft.

People lie, a lot.

[–]RoamingAmber 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes they do. I'm 6' myself and I've lost count of the men several inches shorter than me who announce they're 6'1" or 6'2". I may not be able to guess your height by a sideways glance across the room but I'm aware enough to know how tall I am and that I'm looking down at you.

[–]atlas720 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People lie, a lot.

6'4" myself, and I could of wrote this exact statement myself.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women just aren't as good as men in judging distances. Its a physiological difference in our brains. Men are much more spatially aware.

[–]planned_serendipity1 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's because they have always been told how long six inches is.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm part of this 5'11" club too (it says it on my license because that's what I write down, I usually round down) although I'm actually 5'11" and 3/4" if you measured me at the hospital without socks on. I usually wear a 1" heeled boot for work/riding as well. I'm quite tall for an Asian guy.

I hang around a lot of model-tall women, approaching 6'. I feel they're almost as tall as me but you wouldn't know it by the way they act. I'm always "taller". Even if they're wearing 4" heels (which doesn't happen with a lot of these taller women, I find they resist wearing heels and stick to flats almost exclusively, in order to cancel out their height).

I suspect as a girl, it's hard to be almost 6' and taller. Women are attracted to men taller than themselves and TBH 6' is already pretty tall for a man. When they're around tall men you can almost feel them relax a little bit. Sometimes you can even see the desperation in their eyes melt away when they see a wide-shouldered, 6' tall male.

Thing is, IMO most attractive women aren't that tall. That's probably a good thing since I believe most men are taller than most women. I don't have statistics to back me up though. (Since I have no idea what the statistics are on this.)

[–]RoamingAmber -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not terribly difficult to be tall as a woman, no...lol (Well, unless you're shopping for pants that fit.) Very few of us actually care if you're taller, save for the fact that a tall man will be a LOT less likely to keep harping on the fact that we're tall. That's the problem with many shorter men - they create a problem where there isn't one.

The car thing is insanely true. When I drive my nice four door black sedan I get different treatment than when I am driving my beat down HHR..

[–]binglebongledingle 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean I'm not a woman but an hhr is pretty painful to look at

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is, but shockingly a pretty durable and useful vehicle.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Its interesting how much attention I get driving old, obnoxiously loud, big tire cars with crappy paint and no interior compared to the shiny newer car that looks quite nice, is also a loud V8 in great shape. Then drive around in a new Subaru Legacy or Honda four door and barely get noticed, if at all.

I get a girl to ride in my 70 GTO that has no stereo, door panels, carpet, headliner, has a cracked dash, is loud and violent driving normally, has the aroma of the E85 fuel it runs on, and they become very interested in me. I've gotten so much pussy driving that car and others as un-nice as it is and much less in shiny new cars that there has to be something to it. Something about loud obnoxious violent cars that women like. Might be the bad boy intimidating vibe I have, but the GTO is the clincher.

I'm not even tall, shit 5'8" is barely taller than girls around here. Ride in my ratty old car and they don't care.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The thing is I am still the same dude, in the same clothes in either vehicle. Good hygeine, decent clothes, hair always fixed, etc. Now the hair thing...I am forced to wear a Jimmy Neutron looking hairdo, because my hair grows to the side I the front and it's wavy as fuck. I always keep it up because as a barber I have to look like I give a shit about my hair....women say things like "You always look so perfect." Etc... amazing how far some decent clothes and a little grooming go.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

True, but I am limited due to my physique. I look like a brick thanks to lots of muscle mass from my job. No neck, huge chest, and suits make me look morbidly obese. I play up the bad boy part, because it fits me. My hair is gray so I just buzz it into a flat top or a high and tight. Anything that isn't a black t shirt needs to be tailored to fit me, and I still look like shit, and nobody can see my definition ether, so I look fat.

I wish I could wear something else, look better in suits or the type of clothes skinny guys wear to clubs, but its damn hard to lose muscle mass once you have it. I decided twenty years ago to work with what I have, and this works. Not as well as it could, but far better than trying to be something I'm not.

That can work too, I have a reason I can't run anymore, and I never lost much mass when I used to run two - five miles three times a week. The reason I can't run is the reason I have so much mass, my military job was extremely physically demanding, they worked me too hard when I was too old, you can't do at 34 the things you could at 21 without consequences, you don't heal as quickly, if at all.

Tried elliptical machines, I'd rather run up steps. The pain those things inflict on my knees is almost worse than the injuries that fucked them up. I can walk, about 3mph, and I can ride my mountain bike, so I do those. Swimming is something I'm not great at, and the pool here is tiny, but I have been thinking of getting one of those stationary pools and putting it in at my property.

This is the first full year I can walk normally in the last ten, so I am taking advantage of it just like last summer when I finally healed enough to walk. Ya get fat in ten years not being able to walk much.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All studies like this provide is proof that what we want and what we'll accept are two very different benchmarks.

This is called cognitive dissonance. frequently common to both sexes.

[–]bertstare10 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure plenty of TRP guys have an obnoxious, loud-mouthed, land whale or two hidden in their past.

2 thought I'm thoroughly convinced there's a third I'm not remembering.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does it count if she became a land whale after you divorced her, or does it have to be at the start? Lots of crazy bitches and sluts back there, and some fat chicks to fill in when I would move to a new base so I could break a deployment induced drought, but no relationship with them.

[–]whoops_fap 23 points23 points23 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Am I the only one who picked up on this?

'Women are likely to associate a tall man with higher social and professional status as well as reproductive potential, making them seem more attractive.'

It was not all about physical appearance though, with 62 per cent of women admitting they believed smaller men develop an ‘inferiority complex linked to their height’.

Loooool. Gee, I wonder why they might develop an inferiority complex?

[–]AngraMainyuu 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lol yeah they packaged that well didn't they? I wonder if the writer even caught it.

[–]HolographicWhaleTail12 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

Women don't know how to measure with their eyes. They're not gonna find many men over 6 ft. I'm 5'11", but if I told a woman I was six feet, she'd probably believe me. Ask a woman who has seen your penis how long she thinks it is. Unless she's Rain Man, she'll give some off-the-wall ass number.

[–]grayman12 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Hahaha yep. I've been told my 7" dick was "a massive 10 incher". They have no fucking clue.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Every girl (who has only had sex with 5 guys honest) has somehow been with a guy "OVER 10 inches" and a guy "literally smaller than...[holds up pinkie]...LITERALLY". No. You haven't. Unless you've had sex with a 1000 guys, you've never fucked someone with a dick smaller than 5 inches or a dick bigger than 8 inches. That's the way a normal distribution works.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

ahahahahha do they even standard deviation

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is nothing new. We all know that women have a checklist of criteria that they are looking for - being 6ft+ is near the top of the list.

Of course we all know that they don't actually stick to this criteria in reality. It's a fantasy. I know a girl that used to swear up and down that she's only attracted to guys that are 6ft and over. She's been dating a guy that's 5'5 for the last 6 months and wants him to propose.

If your game is good and you look decent then don't give a second thought to this.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They tend to stick to it online, not even giving a second glance to anyone who lists being shorter. Its not a big deal here, its the desperate females that use the dating sites.

[–]ShinyBrah 8 points8 points8 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Serious question: Is heightism mainly an American thing? I live in Australia and I see guys between 5"6-5"8 with hot girlfriends quite a lot and know a few guys that are around that height and easily pulling multiple girls. I'm not sure if I've just seen the kinder side of women or if it's a cultural thing.

[–]1whatsazipper 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it's an American-on-the-internet thing.

People react to the numbers and what feelings they associate with them rather than the actual physical stature and their response to that.

Ask women to guess measurements. You quickly realize how their thoughts on a unit of measure is, at best, wildly off because they don't even know what they're referring to.

Go outside and the same person that was getting called "short" on the internet may actually be referred to as "tall" by girls in real life.

No joke, I've had a girl tell me my height was wrong because she thinks I'm taller than that. She said I was tall and then asked my height (5'10). She wouldn't believe it, because she felt I was taller.

If you're taller than most women, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to get bent out of shape about height.

[–]cormega 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't say it's heightism so much as being physically attracted to people within a certain height range. You can't really help that. It would be like someone calling you ageist for not wanting to date someone more than ten years older than you. People are allowed to have preferences.

[–]atlas720 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is heightism mainly an American thing?

Not sure if its really just America, or its just most pronounced here. Women will tend to judge you relative to the crowd that she finds you in. A 5'10" man in a bar where all the rest of the guys are hovering around 5'6"-5'8" is "tall". Here in the states we have a lot of different ethnicities all thrown together. You can be in a club with mostly southern European whites, blacks or hispanics and the heights will all be in the 5'6"-5'9" range. A guy that is 5'10" or 5'11" would be considered tall in this scenario, right up until the 6'4" Nordic walks in. Now they're all "short"

[–]kami_kakushi -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

terrible question, australian women are the worst on the planet.

http://www.spring.org.uk/2007/02/stanley-milgram-obedience-to-authority.php

they are the least obedient group on earth

[–]floor-pi 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't that make his question good? And wouldn't what you're saying potentially back up what he's suggesting?

[–]onehonesttruth 22 points23 points24 points 12 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Funny story: Yesterday, I had a date confirmed with a girl I met online. She seemed really nice and we had chatted quite a bit in the last 2 days and was enthusiastic to meet me.

Then 20 mins before the meeting time, she sends me a text:

"Ohhh btw how tall are you?"

Yup. She bailed out because I was 5'09. All of a sudden, she didn't care to see me at all after all, and claimed I should be thankful, because I "saved time & money". I'm not even kidding.

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points31 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If someone texted me asking how tall I was twenty minutes before a date, I'd be tempted to ask her what her cup size is.

[–]onehonesttruth 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thank you I should've asked. Didn't think at the time, I just told her to not forget her tape measure for her next date.

[–]AngraMainyuu 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Genuinely wonder if that particular woman would have even been upset at the question. To be fair, I've met women who are blunt like that and don't exercise double standards. These are the women who are honest about the simple fact that looks matter.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

to ask her what her cup size is.

And if her pics online were current, and how much she weighed.

[–]idreamofkitty 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Should have replied asking her about some unchangeable physical characteristic.

[–]football1010 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The last three girls I had dates for off online sites all flaked after reading my height is 5'3".

The same girls admitted they were attracted to me based off my photos. All three were shorter than me as well.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she was 5'9 herself, there's nothing wrong with that. But if she's like 5'4 then yeah that's retarded.

The problem is she doesn't know what 5'9 is, probably. You have so many 5'6/5'7 guys trying to claim 5'9 (because 5'9 is eh you're kinda short but still normal) so her image of you is that of a 5'7 guy.

[–]Endorsed Contributorredpillbanana 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Technically it's true, she did save you time and money.

I'd be pissed if I spent my time and money taking a woman out on a date and then have her tell me afterwards that she wasn't attracted to me because of my height.

Yeah, I'm not disputing that. I'm not sure I would've minded losing the money though, considering it was only for a beer. Hah, who knows.

If someone texted me that right before a date I would have given my penis size instead and told her that if she can find better than be my guest and cancel.

This is how I see it:

Here we have a typical lady. She has her image of perfect man in her mind. He has to be tall, dark-haired, hazel eyes, muscular, handsome, dresses well, he's gallant and jumps around her like a fucking puppie. Buys her flowers and expensive gifts and expects nothing in return. He has to make a lot of money.

Although this description is a little bit exaggerated, you know what I mean. Every lady has a set of requirements for a potential partner. He has to be this and that and otherwise I'm not interested.

Then she meets an asshole. He completely doesn't fit this imaginary creature of ideal man. He's bald, short, doesn't have much money, he's not even handsome. Dresses like a redneck. He does whatever the fuck he wants, instead of doing his best to satisfy his lady. He might even hurt her feelings or something.

But she falls in love with him just because she feels this mysterious chemistry. You all know that, there's a lot of such cases in the world. Every one of us knows such a couple where a girl was waiting for her perfect prince and then she ended up with a dickhead that completely doesn't fit her ideal.

tl;dr women are fucked up, they don't even know what they want, so don't listen to them and don't worry about their bullshit

[–]Niemamnick 18 points19 points20 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

No problem. I won't date women shorter than 5'7''. I don't want my children to be short.

See? This is actually what these women think. "I'm a short woman, and I want a tall man's genes for my children".

I didn't look at the comments tbh. I thought that this was something that was generally said?

[–]1-Down 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I strongly suspect they only throw 6 ft out there because it's easy to say and within the realm of reasonably attainable. Chances are all they really mean is "taller than themselves".

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this too. If we had no standard of measurement, I honestly believe it would just be "tall enough", 6 ft is just a nice round number, and also happens to be "pretty tall".

[–]Johnny10toes 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I see a lot of short women with guys. It puzzles me because, since guys are "superficial," short women gain weight easier when short. And it looks worse. 10 extra pounds on 5'2" looks worse than 10 pounds on 5'6".

[–]TRP VanguardArchwinger 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I stopped reading when I got to "71 percent of women say".

Because women say stupid shit all the time, then go do something completely contrary to what they say they want.

71% of women say they want a man who's height is X.

Like, 99% of women say they want a guy that's smart and funny and nice and listens to them. Look who they're fucking.

Well I can see your perspective, not from it without a stepladder, but you're tall bro. Its easy to not be concerned when it doesn't apply. What would you do if women wanted men with 22" arms and nothing smaller? The amount of work to get there would be immense for you, easy as shit for me, but you could change it and get bigger arms.

I do agree with you though, and don't worry about shit I can't change. I stand up straight and walk around like I own the fucking place, ad women don't care I'm not tall. They care online, but on the street my presence makes up for my stature. You have it easier in some respects, but not in others. The good thing is how easy or difficult it is for you doesn't affect me much at all. Other guys my height and shorter can't see it that way, but its how it is.

One of the biggest players I know is a un-muscular 5'6" half Egyptian guy, bitches want him and he isn't rich, good looking, or have anything really different about him aside from slightly different looks. Its all attitude, not altitude.

Time to get some New Rocks

Saying this as a 5'10 guy - I get a lot more attention wearing these, and it sure as fuck isn't the cheesy designs on them.

Edit: Should remark that 95% of these are ugly as fuck. Basically I'm just recommending some boots. If you're 5'6 they can make you ~5'9 without looking too stupid, depending on your look. It makes a big difference.

[–]Sunshinelorrypop 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

lol!

Seriously though, I don't know why your voted down. It makes sense if your shorter to buy shoes that will compliment your height. Women buy freaking heels which make them 6 inches taller and men don't even find tall women more attractive.

Those goth boots look pretty shitty though. You can get really nice looking boots which complement your height that doesn't also highlight an insecurity. Just 1/2 of an inch makes you look a lot taller.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Agreed - the whole 'goth' look is a little dated and might not be for everybody. Or anybody. I'm probably the last person you would ask for fashion advice, but I do know that boots make a big difference if you're a little lacking height-wise.

Also, who the fuck buys the boots you linked first? Why even make them? That seems like such a gross waste of resources... I'm just left sitting here scratching my head.

[–]Sunshinelorrypop 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Boots are great and everything but I should give this word of advice.

Boots and more specifically heels destroy your ass. If you get too accustomed to wearing heels, you will no longer engage your gluts when you walk and your ass will start to look like shit. It's also the reason why it's hard to find a pretty woman with a nice ass, they get too used to wearing heels and then it goes to shit.

Personally I have two types of footwear, casual footwear with absolutely minimal sole, I use the brand Vivobarefoot because they are basically like walking around with no shoes on.

Casual

Casual 2

Casual smart

Then I have 'going out' in footware that is nicer and won't fuck your posture up because your not wearing them all the time. They also have the added benefit of lasting a lot longer because your not going to the shops in them.

Oxfords

Wolverines 1,000 mile

1,000 mile different style.

Another benefit of doing this is that you'll get a temporary boost in height which your friends will notice.

When casual, wear stuff that encourages movement, vests, t-shirts, shorts or well fitting jeans that doesn't inhibit movement. Look athletic and that your more interested in function over fashion (but select intelligently to enhance your look, aviation watches look cool with this (get a fake one)). You've got to be in shape to pull this off though and well kept. It's a similar rule of a fat woman, a woman with a great body looks fine by dressing casually but if she's overweight, she has to dress more stylish almost correspondingly to her weight - otherwise she looks more and more frumpy.

Then when out, make more of an effort, skinny jeans or well fit pants, shirt, jacket, tie, glasses, pocket-square, leather-strap watch.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I know a guy that hangs out downtown wearing a pair of the boots. Not that extreme, but they added a few inches for sure.

It's crazy. He walked like he had suction cups stuck to his feet, like he was stuck at every step. So of course I referred to him as suction-foot guy. He also rocked blond hair with black highlight like a skunk. But, he walked up to meet a cute girl that seemed to like him and his style.

I ran into suction-foot guy recently. He was no longer wearing the boots and was walking normally again. Man, he had a girl with him, but worked a room talking to every girl in the place and he was getting them invested, then chatting on his cell phone acting aloof in front of them. He opened a couple next to me, and the guy basically sat there speachless while his chick enjoyed SFG's attention.

No doubt, wearing crazy gear can up your confidence level and put you in IDGAF mode. I've witnessed it in action through suction-foot guy's field research.

[–]Sunshinelorrypop 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you only wear suction shoes then it highlights an insecurity of height. However, if you disguise it in a whole lot of other crazy then it's kind of muffled out with the background noise.

Women certainly like someone that's a bit different. TRP doesn't really emphasise this enough, it's almost like Lift, wear nice clothes and become a Bro (almost). However if you do all the above but then have something way out of whack then it also sets you apart from the other bro wannabes.

Nice to hear that suction guy went on to more authentic game. You shoulda talked to him, see where's he at and if he has in fact honed his social skills.

[–]1lucifa 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Road to insecurity. The moment she clocks you're trying to disguise your height, your SMV drops to zero. Same with wigs and hairloss.

Women are more attracted to men who are entirely at ease with their faults then those who try and compensate for them.

So true. /r/malefashionadvice would rape you for wearing most of those.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

In fairness, I think half of what /r/malefashionadvice recommends is ugly too - but then again, I have the fashion sense of a drowned ant. Are leather cowboy boots and button-down shirts really that fashionable? It seems to me "fashion" in general is just cyclical recycling of material and ideas. Soon we'll be into wolf-pelt shoulder pads, huge bone piercings and unkempt beards.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I used to think the same thing when I looked at the stuff the first time. Just take these shoes for example (Album): http://imgur.com/a/TE0lr MFA loves them, but I think they're ugly as fuck.

That doesn't really matter though, buy what you like, just having a tiny idea of what colors match and how things fit properly will instantly improve your looks by 200%. To me it's not about "what's fashionable at the moment" (that's fucking retarded to be honest), but what fits you, and what looks good on you. Be it now or in 10 years.

[–]1blahbergstein 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

MFA loves them because they're excellent at what they do - keep your feet warm and dry. I don't think anyone on MFA thinks that duck boots are really fashionable, but rather they are functional fashion.

[–]BlueChilli 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whoa, whoa, whoa. MFA hates cowboy boots. That is a horribly ugly combo. That could only work if you were in Texas and involved in outdoor actives. Anywhere else and it looks try-hard.

Not only that - nothing in society is designed for tall people. It's all obviously made for averages. Ever tried flying coach in an airplane as a 6'7''... Don't make the mistake of blaming women for not choosing to date short guys. The same way we don't blame men for not choosing to fuck whales. The only difference is that whales can get in shape, while tragically, short guys can't do anything to get tall.

Bottom line: blame evolution if you will, but don't get angry on women for not being attracted to short guys. After all, attraction is NOT a choice.
