First of all, I've lurked a bit and I know you don't recommend Tinder here and prefer other apps, but where I'm from actually online dating is not so developed as in the US/Australia, and Tinder is the only app that people use. For instance, Hinge, Match, and others, are not even available. CMB, POF, eHarmony are available but deserted. Some people use Badoo or Happn but the level of guys is terribly low, plus those apps are full of catfish and people looking for uncommon stuff (BSDM, trans, couples looking for a third etc). On Tinder instead you can find literally anything (of course you need to avoid a lot of non-dateable guys, as everywhere), and lately a good number of people I know have friends who got engaged or married through Tinder.
I'm looking for a relationship and I would like to know your opinion on guys with these behaviours online, as I'm a newbie to online dating - and I want to avoid being pumped and dumped (actually that never happened to me, but it happens to many girls even if they had the best intentions, so I'm quite afraid).
- I see some guys have hidden their age or location, which means they have Tinder Plus. This gives them, in addition, unlimited right swipes, 5 superlikes per day, 1 boost per month, and the possibility to fake their location. Would you see them as motivated to get a date and hopefully a relationship, or motivated just to fuck around?
- I'm terribly picky with my right swipes because I want to meet the right guy, and in addition I don't want to have many matches at once because then things become overwhelming and I can't even remember who said what. I've picked just 3 guys so far which I like and have no red flags in their profiles. I think that 3 could be a good number to have a bit of choice but not be overwhelmed. I've matched with all of them, but none of them has sent me a message yet and more than 1 day has passed. What would you think about them? Would you try to message first or would you just keep on swiping and looking for someone else? If so, after how many days? If not, would you unmatch or leave them there just in case they decide to text, sooner or later?
- A huge number of guys has no bio, or just their height and/or a few emojis which are supposed to be their hobbies. I've looked for this phenomenon on Google and it seems they think that a bio is useless, as most girls don't read it and just choose based on attractiveness (of course, looking for a relationship, I read everything). Some of them have no red flags in their pics and I might like them. So I'd like to know your experience with guys who have no bio, is it possible to find something good among them or no effort always means no commitment?
- What do you think of guys who do have a bio, but it's not really about them but more a quote or a useless sentence or something stupid?
Additional info: my photos and bio were chosen with a couple of friends who are professional social media managers. There is no cleavage, no bikini, no crazy faces, no animal filters, absolutely nothing of that kind which would make me look like a potential plate. I have a proper description with my hobbies and even a conversation starter, so it is not possible that guys do not know what to text me.
Also, I've seen that some apps like Bumble and Once are starting to develop also here. What are your experiences with those apps? Do you think that guys are honest when they state "what they are looking for" in the dedicated field in Bumble? I'm afraid of guys who pretend wanting a relationship just to get you in bed.
