I'm going to go ahead and say the walls for the vast majority of you are the ones you spend inside instead of getting out to experience life and talk to people. These thought experiments don't make you guys "deep" or "smart". You're not even 35 and you're talking about how that's the "end", in a sense.

People in our parents', or grandparents', time would say you hit the wall well before as you don't have children by your late 20s.

The wall starts at 35 but not for the reason you say. It's because if you're single at 35, you're leftovers, man or woman. Every quality person has already met somebody. I'm not sure how it works for divorcees.

not only is this a dumb strawman argument, it's also factually incorrect.

the strawman part is that you claim that the Wall is about having kids and building families, when really it's about SMV and sexual attractiveness.

moving on, the factually incorrect part is where you claim that men hit the wall at 35, apparently because if they're older than that they will be elderly (or dead) when their grandchildren are born. even if this is true, whether a man lives to see his grandchildren is pretty irrelevant to your own strawmanny definition of the Wall that was based on having kids and building families.

male fertility does decline with age, but it's a much slower and more gradual process than it is in women. women do have a hard age limit after which they literally cannot have kids. and at 35, a woman is getting danger close to that age limit.

it's not the same for men. an older man may be less likely to father children, but it is still very very possible. and the main reason that most older men don't have more children has nothing to do with their own fertility, it's because older men tend to be married to older women. if there were more older men married to younger, more fertile women then older father's would be far more common.

in all of human history, there have only been a handful of women who were able to successfully have children after the age of 65. meanwhile on the male side, two of the guys in the Rolling Stones accomplished that feat.

“The Wall” is about looks, not reproduction. A lot of men have deluded themselves into thinking they all age like fine wine but that’s the farthest thing from the truth. Some men still look great when their 35+ but some look terrible and likely hit the wall in their 20s. The same is true with women. I always think the advice RP men give young men about this just sets them up for failure.

Trying to specify a specific age for hitting the wall seems nonsensical. Some people are going to hit the wall at 21, some at 40 etc. What is important is that it exists and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably deluding themselves. What is important is that there is more in life than how you look.

I honestly think the "wall" (like, latest time when you start aging a lot) depends on each person, lifestyle, plastic surgery/skincare/gym. So there is not an equal wall for everyone.

But for marriage/kids the latest best time probably is 35 for women, 40 for men to me.

There is no specific age you hit the wall. It's all about your individual attractiveness at a given age.

My dating life has gotten better and better the older I've gotten, but that's because I've made an effort to continually improve myself. My body, my style, my career, my income, my knowledge.

I'd say it becomes harder for women after 35 because of their biological clock and because WOMEN typically prefer older men.

Making decisions on when to have kids based on based when you might be a grandparent is just silly. So many unknowns. I can see wanting to be in shape for your own kids but if you take care of yourself it’s not an issue. Or you can have a car accident at 32 and wind up a paraplegic. You just don’t know.

Why is it important to be a youngish granddad?
Why is it important to be experience becoming a granddfather at all?

If thing worked out well. Your child should be fully raised. And your child should be able to handle/raise his/her children themselfes. I don't really see the necessaty for grandfather to be there sitting around and talking about the good-old-days. It's nice and enjoybale to have grandfather/grandmother that is enjoyable; but not really necesairy.

A 35-year-old having his first kids is looking at 30-35 years before the grandkids start popping up. He or she will be 65-70 then. That's acceptable.

That's NORMAL. lol Most people have kids within the 25 to 35 age range.

A 45-year-old having his first kids is looking at being a 75-80 yr old granddad.

Kind of pushing it, I agree.

What makes you think your kids with have kids when you want them to? Anyways, it takes nearly a year for a child to be born. You could have 4 kids within 6 years.

about viability for having kids and building families

A guy can have his starter family in his twenties. His second family in his forties. And if he's lucky he can squeeze in a third one before he dies.

That's a risky bet on life. You may breakup, she may change her mind, she may not be able to conceive, etc. Then you're suddenly early 40s, and no kids. Knock her up now. Best to have kids when you're young anyway. Especially for the mother.
