what does acting your age mean?

By the time a guy's 35 or so he needs to have become fully self-supporting. He needs to have completed his education/training (exceptions made for medical residencies and fully funded post docs). He needs to be on a career or business path. In short -- he needs to have his shit together.

BTW. New Balance makes great running shoes and 120 Minutes was MTV's best ever show.

Being in your 30s means basically not being immature. And not in a "I'm totally an adult" 20s type of way in which you're still waving your dick around and trying to be the loudest guy there.

IDK, that's the best I can say to describe it.

20s and someone challenges who you are and your views. Argue points until you're blue in the face or get in a fist fight.

30s... "Ehh, well, I feel different, don't really care what you think."

It's just more mellow. I feel like if you're doing it right you can effortlessly move on through stuff that would have taken enormous amounts of drama before.

Had a 20 year friendship end and it was like changing a mail carrier. Like what am I going to do, have a bunch of sit down meetings where we hug it out and cry? You want to be a bitch, be a bitch and that's that. Move on.

You should stop worrying about other people and just deal with what you want or can deal with.

For me I still dress stylishly but I guess my style is a little more laid back than it used to be, for example at festivals my style is still an “over the top” festival style but it’s also a bit more like a festival veteran, my style has a lot more chill to it than it might’ve like 5-10 years ago. But tbh I don’t think about it too much usually I just pick some clothes that I think look cool or fun

It all comes down to one thing for everyone: financial independence. If you are independent and self-supporting, you pretty much play by your own rules. That's it.

Marriage, relationships, life script checklists, all of that stops having importance as soon as you are not financially independent.

Nobody gets a user manual for life, so we all have to figure out how to act at every age. It's going to be a different vision for everyone. I think you can define for yourself what 30 means without falling into stereotypes. Accept that your life views and priorities are going to change.

30+? you should by now be self supporting and seriously working towards something, not just living for the moment. it doesn't have to be a huge something but it should be long term and require a little discipline. Buy a house. Start a business. Retire at 55 and buy a yacht. raise a family. get that novel written to publishable standard. Open a specialist museum. IDK what, that's your choice, but by 30 you should have smelled mortality and know you now have to not only support yourself but have a little extra to give that you put into something of substance to you before it is too late to do so.

presentation wise? if you wore a trend the first time don't be in a hurry to wear the trend a second time unless you downplay it a lot. You should have a plan for growing old ... what interventions you will have and what you will leave well alone and how you're going to avoid looking like a joke. there's plenty of old guys who look like jokes because they've chosen poorly. Notice them, and do not repeat their mistakes.

Dating behavior? if you're going to date outside your age range recognise the women you date will come with issues and you might well have issues yourself. You're going to have to handle these issues gracefully because when a 35 year old dates an 18 year old or a 50 year old and she turns out to be a crazy bitch or she turns out to take the relationship less seriously than he does, everyone thinks "well what did he expect?"

One common point of trp seems to be that guys over 30 shouldn't act, dress or look young, because girls who like older guys want them to actually BE more mature and different from dudes her age, plus they'll never do it quite as organically and naturally as 20s guys anyway.

Knowing what matters and be taking care of that.

knowing whose opnion matter and being unaffected by those outside that select group.

Deciding for yourself what you will and not do and knowing why and being unaffected by other people's opinions about that unless they're in that select few.

Knowitg what is right and wrong atd regularrly using that to decide what to do or not do.

Knowing what you are and where you fit in the world. Who to respect, who to ignore, what your contribution is. What your limits are. What you're good at.

Basically being able make decsions on your own and lead at least yourself, if not others too when the need arises.

If you don't know the answers to these questions you have not been pushing limits and testing. Testing yourself until something breaks you a little. And testing your world to find what is really worth respecting.
