The earth orbits the sun, always rotating and revolving, but always at a appreciable distance.

This is also applied to men who orbit women. They are just 'there' in a girls life, they never try to get close to her or directly ask her out. They hope that just by being around her that, someday, something will blossom and it would lead to sex or a relationship.

On a further note, people think women have way more men interested in them than there really is. Women overestimate the number of men interested in them (both sexually and romantically), and men think women constantly have men showing interest.

Now, I think it's important to define what 'interest' is from a male perspective. Men are the hunters, and if they like a girl THEY WILL MAKE IT CLEAR. They won't orbit, or be indirect, because NOT being with you is a chance lost so they will create the opportunity to be with you as quickly as they can, because he knows if he doesn't, another guy will.

Now compare this to an guy who is passive. He acknowledges the girl, maybe likes her pictures on social media, or even leaves comments complimenting her. He does like her, but not enough to go out of his way to ask her directly. Therefore, in reality, he does not like her that much, and he doesn't like her enough, to jump in and try and get her before another guy does.

I know women who use the men who like their social media and label them as guys who like her, but in my opinion, if he likes you ENOUGH, he will let you know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Men also try to pain women as leading men on, but in reality, the guy doesn't like her enough to warrant the excuse of 'leading him on'.
