Honestly, I think the status/wealth thing is one of those where there's a lot of solipsism going on (and, frankly, so is the beauty thing).

Julia Roberts is already rich and famous--she doesn't need to care about the wealth/status of the man she's with, she can go with a guy she was into.

George Clooney had dated a buttload of gorgeous, slightly vapid women on two-year rotations--he got over the thrill of having the finest arm candy and went out for a woman he actually liked.

Honestly, sometimes I think people on this sub forget that people in relationships are supposed to like each other.

Most celebrities are narcissists, and the rate of divorce is so high in their world I can't see why anyone of them with a brain would even entertain being with another one.

Apart from the fact that a few exceptions don't make the rule...

George Clooney married a British human rights attorney, who is very intelligent and sure beautiful, but by red pill definitions/time line "hit the wall" a long time before they got together.

Just because TRP says you shouldn't date women over 30 doesn't mean George Clooney has to follow suit. Besides, she's still 17 years younger than him, so this isn't exactly a "gotcha RPers!!"-example.

No this is the purple pill sub, where celebrities are definitive proof of the blue pill arguments. Men do not age well because some of the bloops here think Brad Pitt looked hotter when he was a teen. There is no wall for women cos there are some supermodels who had enough surgery and are airbrushed to look good into their fifties.

So no they're not exempt, they're conclusive proof that all red pill ideas are wrong.

Ah no. For example - Mary Elizabeth Winstead was married to Riley Stearns. Controversy broke out in their marriage when nude photos on her phone she sent to him were leaked along with other celebs in what the internet dubbed the fappening. She later decided to leave him in order to sleep with Ewin Mcgregor (Obi-wan). Both Mcgregor and Winstead were married still at the time they started sleeping with each other.

No, but there are different pressures on celebrities that will affect the choices that they make.

I get the impression that after Julia Roberts become more successful, her ego got too big to countenance dealing with another big A-lister. She wanted to wear the trousers. That's probably just a quirk of her personality.

I think Clooney's marriage is a marriage of unilateral convenience. I don't think his wife is aware of the social and political calculations he made in getting married to her. Her ego probably only allows her to believe that he felt compelled to marry her out of love, but it's clear that he could not go on dating different cocktail waitresses, as he aged, and still retain his public image of respectability. I think Seth Macfarlane's gibe at the Oscars about his dating choices was the writing on the wall and the last straw.

Celebrities live in unusual circumstances and are under extreme scrutiny, so this puts unusual pressure on the choices that they make. Much of a celebrity's existence has to do with keeping up appearances to a greater extent than usual, so one should not pay too much attention to their public image. It is usually fake.
