The whole “alpha” and “beta” with respect to human social interaction is a giant bucket of steamed dogshit.

Almost every man I’ve met who has declared himself alpha is typically really insecure and is moderate to terrible with women. Two guys I know have laughed at me for being “beta” and “pussy shy,” and yet still don’t get why I get women’s numbers and they never do.

I believe that it’s all very fluid. Men can take control of some situations but may fall back in a follower role in others. Guys who insist on being “alpha pack leaders” are quick to be culled, because they often, in my experience, hold the group back.

Thank you for iterating what was basically my position talking to u/LewisCross in the other thread.

These terms are more constrictive than anything and lead guys astray more often than help. My friend described himself as "alpha" because he bought a gun without his wife's permission-- but in every interaction they have together it's glaringly obvious she holds all the power and dominance. Redpill "aware" men are some of the worst examples of "alpha" that I've ever witnessed.

RP has an inner issue.
If you ever asked yourself, "is it alpha because it is attractive, or is attractive because it is alpha? Is it unattractive because it is beta (...)?" you probably found quite unanimous answers on "alpha" and "beta" having both traits that strike as "desirable on men" and "undesirable".

In our eagerness to fundament our knowledge in other than social engineering, someone gave the wrong answer. And on the effectiveness of the wrong answer for some goals (interacting with women given the praxeology we use for them), we ended up sticking with it. Now, it seems that even if PUA and the world disagrees, we have a hard time accepting that some beta traits make men more desirable in some circumstances. Shame. But I'd only start nagging about this when its turn comes. And it will not come, while it is encouraged to at least some men to be spineless idiots.

You are right and if you look further RP encourages some remarkably beta approaches to some other issues, it often praises risk aversion, and other things that might prevent men from growing as much as they can. As a community, this mess up is not its only flaw. It is, though, highly encouraged for us to be rational, and therefore it seems to me that you can not leave red by rationally challenging it, only if you manage to be willingly ignorant of it.

incels and other dudes who have zero social jucie and constantly struggle with getting laid aren't betas, they are omegas.

the true betas (which are often called "high betas") are the guys who aren't at the alpha/Chad level but do still have a fairly high amount of social power. they don't get the hottest girls but they usually have a pretty average girlfriend. true betas get invited to the more exclusive events and they're on the inner circle type group messages.

the betas who know their position and role in the social hierachy usually aren't a problem.
