Because he has repeatedly stated that he doesn't like 4chan. It's hard for him to make it turn any profit, because people don't want to advertise on it. It's also giving him a bad name by association - the rest of the world sees 4chan as "that bad website" and doesn't want to associate with it. /pol/ is basically the containment board that kept the second worst group on the site from derailing the rest of the boards with their racism, conspiracy theories and general asshattery. By removing captcha, /pol/ becomes full of useless spam bots, rendering it useless. This drives the /pol/acks out onto the rest of the site, making people hate that, too. Once enough people have left that he won't be DDOSed for the rest of his life once he shuts down the site, he will.
