No, but within reason and context is important. If he's constantly seeking female attention from new women all the time, it's probably a red flag yeah. If he's got some close female friends he's had forever and he cultivates those relationships, less so. If he's not including you in these relationships or worse, excluding you, red flag city.

If he has a lot of both female and male friends, I just think he's an outgoing guy with a wide social circle. I have no problem with that as that basically describes my friends and I.

If he has only female friends, then I tend to agree with u/Sunhappy_DC. He's either fucking them/trying to fuck or he's gay.

I've known guys who only had sisters (usually older sibs) and are more comfortable with female friends and less so with male friends. If I'm with a guy, he can make his own decisions about which of his friendships are healthy or not. Note: I've known girls with only brothers and have the inverse situation of preferring male friends.

The fact that he has a lot of friends would concern me because it most likely means he's an overly social extrovert and with that probably very annoying and the complete opposite of me. Them being female would feature in depending on how close they are I guess - if they are obviously hitting on him/ wanted to date him, it would be very uncomfortable for obvious reasons.

If he has only female friends I'd wonder if it's some sort of weird harem of his or if he is gay tbh.

Mixed gender friend group is a good sign. Only female friends? Not so much. Still, it would depend on how he treats them.

My boyfriend has a bunch of female friends, including one of his best friends. But he also has a ton of male friends. He's just a social person.

It really is situational.

Life may just put him in a position where he's meeting tons of women. Could be his major or his job.

But how he treats them is more important. Is he touchy? Does he seek out their validation? Are they cultivating emotional intimacy?

I've seen guys who love to 'snuggle' and hold hands with women they aren't dating and they just play it off like "I'm just a really touchy person. It's not romantic."

And it's always complete bullshit. Because it's quite clear they are only doing to because they are attracted to the opposite sex. They don't seem to cuddle their male friends, do they?
