If you asked most men for advice on how to seduce them, they'd likely say "be hot and horny" or maybe even "be confident". Both of those pieces of advice are true, in the sense that they do indeed work, but it's not very actionable or specific advice. Nor does it speak to the differences between men, or what women actually want from men.

I argue that most people in general suck at giving dating advice, especially for the opposite sex for a few specific reasons:

Most people's dating troubles come from very specific sources, and often superficial appearances has little to do with it, or their appearance is just a symptom of something deeper rooted. Even a platonic friend that knows you very well will have some difficulty unpacking your psychology and neuroses to see what your problems are with the opposite sex. An amicable ex would actually be a much better source of advice, provided they could speak to issues beyond why the two of you didn't work out.
Most people struggle to take identify what they have in common with their gender and where they're an outlier, and they struggle especially at seeing themselves and their gender from the opposite sex's point of view.
Men and women have different sexual agendas. For women, sex is a means to an end, rather than an end in itself - most of the time. For men, the reverse is true. That doesn't mean that men don't want or need help roping down one particular lass, or that women sometimes just want to get laid, but that overall difference in agenda clouds the issue greatly.

To be honest, if you must ask for dating tips from the opposite sex, you have to parse it and interpret it. Otherwise you're just asking to be misled. Most men have no fucking clue what they really want or need out of a girlfriend, and most women have a damn hard time nailing down what actually turns them on and why.

Dating advice can be taken from women if you're looking to do nice things for your girl. Comfort is just as important as excitement for a long term relationship.

If you're looking to get a girl in the first place, it's useless to ask women anything because all they know is what they want the guy who already has them to do.

Agree that men shouldn't take dating advice from women, but you're going a bit too far in the reasoning.

You make it sound as if all women are deliberately misleading men with malice aforethought, for the explicit purpose of ruining these men's lives, and with specific intent to ruin their lives. I don't think that's what's happening.

Oh, they're lying to men, but it's not entirely intentional and it's not to fuck these guys over. They're lying because

--they don't themselves fully understand the truth of what they do and why they do it.

--if they told the truth, they'd look like bitches, and they DO NOT want to look like bitches to people.

--to an extent, they ARE telling the truth, while omitting one crucial detail - they want those things from men and relationships, but IF AND ONLY IF the men having those traits are sexually attractive. Women simply assume everyone knows that sexual attractiveness is required, it's a given, and so they leave it unstated. (They also don't want to say what is sexually attractive to them, because again - they either don't know; they know and can't articulate it, or they do know but won't say because if they do, they'll look shallow and superficial, and they think people won't like them.)

Good enough to fuck isn't the same as good enough for relationships.

As people grow older they start to value relationships more and more. Especially if they are from a subreddit for dating over 30

Sure if you are an 20 year old guy that just wants to score some easy pussy go ahead and use shirtless pics, but if you want more than just a string of hookups with people that care just as little about you as you about them you also need to get rid of those fuckboy red flags.

People that actually want to date certainly do care about your personality and about an connection.

Though let's be fair. Why are you dating? Is it to get some poon, or to find a suitable partner? "Dating advice" from women will focus on the latter, and men seem to obsess over the former.
