[CMV] I have come believe that feminism stigmatizes male heterosexuality as inherently rapist in the same way Christian evangelicals stigmatize homosexual males as pedophiles.

I think feminism is tunnel visioned by its focus on labeling everything negative after men (patriarchy), and this tunnel vision is going to eventually end feminism.

Some of the young men I knew in college treated me badly for not chasing girls and drinking beer are now asking me to get them internships at the place where I work. Why do young men expect special treatment from the people they harassed? Is this supposed to be alpha male behavior?

I don't think feminists realize how bigoted and sexist their ideology is when they attribute success to overcoming men and not overcoming personal problems.

Q4WOMEN: Women have equals rights. Amidst all this equality, feminists still assert that men and women are not equal. What do men need to know in order to understand the feminist idea of inequality of the sexes?

Been coming to this subreddit fro a while. I realized how fruitless our discussions have been, and how loveless so many of us are.

Can you add some content to this post? These title only discussions are never that fruitful.

honestly I'd probably be a lot nicer to male strangers... I'm a naturally cheerful, bubbly person. I never want to be too nice as it is because I don't want them to take it the wrong way.

I honestly think this is why hot women appear bitchy or have resting bitch faces. If they were as friendly to guys as they are to their friends then everybody would be thinking they had a chance.

[–]sublimemongrelBecky, Esq.12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Same way I interact with them now that I'm married: as men I'm not interested in dating.

I also think you're painting too broad a brush. I don't think every casual social interaction with men even amongst single men and women involves all those things.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

this. i've always had guy friends and colleagues anyway, so interacting with men in a platonic way is not something new.

[–]sublimemongrelBecky, Esq.4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right.

[–]SkrattGoddess7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Title got so much salt my blood pressure went up from reading it xD

[–]PurpleBanner[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Why so?

[–]SkrattGoddess4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

It just looks salty af.

[–]PurpleBanner[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

That is awfully vague.

[–]hakosuaEscape the Pillory11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

It's hard not to be vague when talking about sodium content.

How about an equivalent, equally high-salt, low-nutritional-value post:

"Q4MEN: If negging, sexual escalation, and the expectation that every woman wants your dick and/or money were not part of your casual social interactions, how would you interact with women?"

[–]LittleWindowpane points points points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Much better! The sexual tension between men and women SUCKS for platonic interactions.

[–]hakosuaEscape the Pillory0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, I feel you deeply on that one.

If you were in my neck of the woods, I'd probably friendzone the shit out of you, but that's seldom as fulfilling as a truly egalitarian, mutually-agreed-upon platonic friendship.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow. We both have the same problem: how to send big I'M NOT INTERESTED signals to the opposite sex. It's resulted in some rather funny mishaps: I was talking to a girl once; we were having a wonderful conversation about off-roading and cars, of all things. I wasn't interested in her, but got her number, exchanged a few texts about Jeeps vs. 4Runners for offroading. She stopped texting me after a while and looked disappointed...Later, I realized that she was into me and was disappointed. I only wanted to talk about Jeeps!

[–]PurpleBanner[S] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That's completely different than the question I asked.

[–]hakosuaEscape the Pillory9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

How so? I tried to pose precisely the same question but with the genders (and gendered assumptions) reversed.

I mean, if you lack the taste-buds to detect salt, then I'm afraid I can't describe the flavor 'salty' to you. I'm not arguing you salted your post intentionally, I'm just agreeing that, however you concocted it, you ended up with a high-salt-content post.

[–]PurpleBanner[S] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

How so?

Context.

The female is always the victim. If females in general are not oppressed, then feminism falls apart at the seems.

[–]hakosuaEscape the Pillory3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Right, context is essential. But I'm afraid I'm still confused about specifics. Are you arguing that the parallel Q4MEN post would be salty because of our cultural context? Or are you arguing that your original Q4WOMEN post is not salty because of cultural context?

You also seem to be arguing that feminism is a form of gas-lighting. Were that true, I'm still confused of the relevance.

Returning to the Q4MEN hypothetical, let's pretend it's posed by someone who believes that the patriarchy is a form of gas-lighting, invalidating female suffering in the name of strict objectivism. So, now let's imagine I tell this person that their Q4MEN sounded salty.

"No," they say, "not salty!"

Why?

"Because patriarchy!"

I'm sure that you can see how their argument would require some jumps in reasoning, even if you were to believe their premise. Well, I can't see the distinction between their argument and yours.

[–]sublimemongrelBecky, Esq.3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol you broke that down well. ++

[–]PurpleBanner[S] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

But I'm afraid I'm still confused about specifics. Are you arguing that the parallel Q4MEN post would be salty because of our cultural context? Or are you arguing that your original Q4WOMEN post is not salty because of cultural context?

There is not a parallel to be found here in spite of your insistence that there is one to be found.

The central credo of feminism is that women are always victims and that males are always trying to control women. Your instance on finding a parallel doesn't work because feminism says that there isn't a parallel because men and women are inherently unequal when women are oppressed by men. If women are not oppressed, then feminism fall apart.

[–]Electra_CuteChristian, Flat Earther, Anti-Vaxxer, Astrologer5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The same way I do now. I may not be as cautious.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, basically if I could safely assume a man wasn't talking to me just for sex? I would probably talk more openly and freely, because apparently talking to a man who's indicated interest in me at all is leading him on.

[–]shogunofsarcasmI do what I want3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I treat guys I don't flirt with pretty normally... I talk to them, joke with them, become friends with them, etc.

I am confused by what you are trying to ask.

[–]hakosuaEscape the Pillory4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

While I don't expect that every man wants sex from me, experience has taught me to be sensitive to the fact that a number of men do. This has more to do with supply and demand in the heterosexual dating scene and less to do with me personally, my looks, or personality.

Were the probability that someone wants to fuck me not a consideration, I'd most likely talk about sex a lot more often. It's one of my favorite topics but, as a (somewhat!) sexually desirable female, I worry that discussing sex with straight male acquaintances can send mixed messages.

I'd also probably be quicker to say when I found another guy sexy. As it stands, I don't tend to volunteer that information to straight male acquaintances because I worry that it'll leave them feeling insecure.

Were I not concerned about men wanting to fuck me, it would also be much simpler to accept compliments from men whom I don't want to fuck. Over the past 15 years, I like to think I've perfected this firm but gracious thanks-but-now-lets-move-on response. I vary the firmness and the graciousness depending on my certitude as to whether the compliment is leading up to a proposition. The aim is to stay gracious and honor compliments while, at the same time, redirecting men in order to protect them from the pain of outright rejection (and, perhaps more importantly, to protecting myself from the discomfort of having to outright reject them). Anyway, the point is, it would be a shit ton easier if I hadn't evolved this weird, reflexive mental calculation which kicks in every time a stranger says something nice.

With regard specifically to flirting:

I don't flirt much or play coy with men unless I'm single and find them attractive. Unfortunately, I do have trouble not flirting back when women flirt with me. Like, I haven't yet overcome the sense that women's sexual attention is special and somehow deserves reciprocation. So, if flirting was not part of my casual social interaction, I'd be a lot less awkward around the female Facebook friends who send me pictures of themselves in their new sexy boots, corsets, latex kimonos, etc.

[–]SkrattGoddess1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I call that "avoiding flirting like bullets in Matrix" you know the whole bend backwards stuff

[–]hakosuaEscape the Pillory2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hehe. I hung out a lot in dive bars as a younger female, trying to get fucked up without getting fucked. Now, in AA meetings, I oftentimes encounter the same kind of outwardly-tough, inwardly-hurting men. If they had nothing to offer, it'd be easy: I'd just act cold toward them. But I tend to genuinely like them, even if I'm not looking for sex. So it becomes this hopeless balancing act: trying to convey that my interest is just platonic without shaming them as creepers.

The matrix visual is depressingly apt. I should probably focus more on building friendships with straight women and/or gay men.

[–]anitapkcsarlbmed ggse1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know, friendships with people that don't wanna fuck me make me feel more safe and wholesome.

Yes I share the feeling of avoiding sex (that's what you mean by getting fucked right?).

Aa as alcoholics anonymous? I'm having some beer issues but drinking it in my PJs after work..

I don't think most guys get insecure that easily.

[–]BPremiumMeh1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

they do

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Really? Are you a guy and do you get insecure when a girl compliments another guy in front of you? I mean I've kinda just accepted that I'm not super attractive so I don't get insecure about things like that.

[–]BPremiumMeh0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yup and depends on the compliment. "I like that tie" type of compliments cause no issues. " Damn, hes sexy" or "I want him" are definitely more insecurity inducing.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you a man? The way you asked this question makes me think you are. Women don't go into every interaction with men thinking about their fuckability the way men do. An exceptionally attractive man, maybe but even then it's not like we start gaming him immediately.

That's why the answer to your question is no difference.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would probably hug them more. Other than that probably about the same.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Need more clarification. Are the men acting differently or are we speaking to them with the knowledge that sex and attraction aren't a factor?

[–]PurpleBanner[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, assume for a moment that men in general are not the rapists that feminists report men to be. Also assume that men in general do not want to get into a girl's panties.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I still don't know why "men in general do not want to get into a girl's panties" in your hypothetical.

Is this in some bleak and sexless future? Is everything the same, but women behave like men don't want to have sex with them?

[–]SpaceWhiskey🍃 Social Justice Druid 🍂2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

None of that stuff is part of my casual social interactions, so probably exactly the same. I think it's super arrogant to assume every man I speak to for whatever reason wants to have sex with me. Even if it happens to be true in some cases, I'm not going to treat a clerk that way or my boss that way or the person in front of me in line that way. That's such a weird way to interact with the world. I do my best to treat everyone the same in neutral situations.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a weird question. I interact with males that I would never flirt with all the time, especially at work. It isn't a hypothetical.

Does the average person not interact with the other gender at work?

edit: I'm not into the whole beta orbiter thing and I rarely use facebook so it's not like I'm looking for males to give me attention. Is that what this question is referring to?

[–]damaskroseBlue Pill Woman1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd be a more open and friendly, hug them like I do with my female friends. I'd be able to ask them to hang out, without feeling like I have to get a whole group together (to make sure they realize it's not a date).

As it is, I feel like I have to keep myself at a distance from male acquaintances and friends. Like I have to treat them with a level of unnatural 'professionalism' normally reserved for coworkers. If I treat them like how I treat my female friends, they seem to think I have a crush on them.

[–]lollygagyoSociopathic Fake Flirter1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who interacts with every man they meet as if sex is part of the equation?

It's not, generally speaking.. I would keep interacting with men as I do now, because ''the expectation that every man wants sex'' is not on my mind.

Srsly. Who legit thinks every dude they encounter wants to fuck them and lets this inform their actions? Weird.

I may be less cautious in situations involving strangers approaching me in public.

You know, I work with a lot of women.

And they flirt with me. Married. single, Divorced. Young. Old.

No expectation of sex. In fact, the older or more unattractive the more fun and "out there" their words and deeds are. Its all in fun.

But at the end of the day...

If I was looking for sex where I eat, it would be a shitty meal.

OTOH, I could probably convert some of those younger ones to prospects/plates. Because flirting is fun and gets both parties a little more dopamine.

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How do you expect them to find orbiters?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's funny that my initial thoughts were, ''they wouldn't''.

I mean imagine running your ditzy damsel in distress game only be told you're an idiot and you need to grow up.

[–]SpaceWhiskey🍃 Social Justice Druid 🍂0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes I feel like I live in a different universe because I have seen ditzy girls called out like that so many times it's ridiculous to me that you think it doesn't happen.

[–]monkees4va0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd speak to men like I do the majority of my friends. I'm not constantly assessing men for sex and I don't have casual sex. The only major thing that would change is the potential for sexual assault when they start coming on to me and I reject them instantly. That has happened before and means that I lose both a friend and my confidence. Plus no more worrying about the friendzone, except for the increased likelihood that I crush on a guy who has no interest in me.

[–]wombatinaburrowfeminist marsupial0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same as I do now. Polite and friendly.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think one of the main problems with interactions between men and women is that women DON'T usually take it for granted that guys want sex.

That's why the so-called "friendzone" even exists. I'm personally super nice to 95% guys I meet, because I'm a nice person in general. I don't seriously flirt with them, though, untill they make it clear they are interested in me in a romantic way. I just don't. And I can imagine guys meeting girls like me, thinking "oh, she is nice, she must be into me", but not doing anything suggesting sexual attraction, and then being treated like a friend and complaining about being friendzoned or going to TRP and crying how girls don't take any notice of "decent guys" because they prefer machos and whatnot.

[–]EliteSpartanRangerNice Guys Don't Ask For Rewards0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're not part of my casual social interactions. At all. So I guess the answer to that question is, the same way I currently do?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The same as I act now. I'm a lesbian.

[–]ClarityofDisasterPerson Going Their Own Way0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This question assumes that the female answer giver is coy, knows how to flirt, and seemingly believes every man wants to have sex with her.

I guess this is true for some women, but all my friends and 90% of my coworkers are men. I just treat them like normal human beings aka how I'd like to be treated.
