Would most people agree with TRP if the wording was less harsh? Is a toned down version already somewhat available in the mainstream? Or is it just obvious in the first place?

This is something that comes up often in comments here. The idea that TRP is only hated because it uses harsh wording and if you reword the basic concepts most people would not find them too controversial.

I'm going one step further here and also asking if a toned down version already exists in the MSM. It's already been brought up many times that rap has a lot of RP themes but what about other media?

This is partly triggered by something I saw on TV recently. Big Bang Theory was on (plz no judge, it was on a friend's TV) and Penny was talking to whatsherface, Sheldon's girlfriend. Penny is getting jealous because it seems like some other girl is flirting with her boyfriend. Whatsherface says "your limbic brain finds him more attractive because it shows he's desirable."

Which is of course the same idea behind preselection and dread game from TRP.

And outside of the media you have common expressions like "there's plenty of fish in the sea" which is basically abundance mentality.

Another one I've heard is "girls are like buses: you wait around forever for one then a lot of them turn up at once." This also seems to jive with the preselection thing.

Of course this can be looked at from two different angles: you can either say it supports the idea that TRP isn't that bad, or you can say that the bits of TRP that aren't all shitty are obvious anyway. I'll leave that bit up to you.

But I'm curious if anyone else has noticed TRP ideas in the mainstream, outside of the obvious rap examples. Do you think there's enough evidence in mainstream media and society that TRP's core ideas aren't really that bad if you take away the extremity of the people who post there? Or do you think it's just a coincidence, obvious stuff is obvious, and TRP is still largely full of horrible evil shit?
