Makes sense from a practical/selfish point of view. If the other person loves you more than you have more power in the relationship. I don't understand how TRP can talk against this because they say the exact same thing.... isn't this literally the same reasoning for saying "you should make more money than your partner"?

First of all, I don't know how you quantify love. Unless there's an enormous, obvious disparity, I don't think it's possible to tell who loves who "more." If there is an obvious disparity, I don't think that's a good thing no matter who it favors.

The rest of the post I don't altogether disagree with. Butterflies don't last forever and aren't a good indicator of how good a partner someone will be in the long run. (I also don't see how the second part of the meme relates to the first.)

But in general most girls who share these kinds of things on Facebook have some sort of issues going on, so I'm not surprised that's true of your friend.

This sounds like the feminine equivalent of trying not to pedestalize a man. It's basically saying that if you are giddy that is not going to last but if you feel safe and secure then it will. The "man loving you more than you love him" thing sounds like a way to try to ensure fidelity, and perhaps power, depending upon the woman and if she desires relationship dominance or not.

Frankly, I don't really care how much the women that I've been in relationships love me compared to how much I love them. I can't read their minds and a lot of people don't feel the same way deep down as they seem on the surface. It seems like a source of needless relationship anxiety to constantly be worrying about something like this and I already have enough anxieties in my life to deal with.

Funny. Looks like Alpha Fux Beta Bux is as old as time itself. But, as Rollo so deftly puts it, women are becoming less and less inclined to hide their hypergamous motivations anymore. The first quote was how grandma advises AF/BB, and the second quote, Sheryl's statement, is the way the Sexual Revolution women say it, and AF/BB is the way 21st century Red Pillers say it.

And we're all saying the same thing: Feminine hypergamy.

Even over the course of my time at TRP, women have progressed. At first, women and Blue Pillers vehemently denied hypergamy was even a thing. But now, not only do they not deny it, they are actively celebrating it and trying to get men to accept it and go along with it. Here is a quote from /u/Rollo-Tomassi on the matter (emphasis mine):

It's what all aunts, grandmothers, etc... tell their female kinfolk.

It's to counter marrying an asshole who's going to cheat on you and use you and not value you, etc...

However it means she's going to have to be content with being the person loves less in the relationship.

Many women can't stand that, just as much as they can't stand being the person who "loves more."

This is bad advice. It's setting up for an unequal relationship. The goal is probably to keep the guy who won't cheat or leave because he loves you so, so much. But that kind of relationship can't last. He gets possessive, paranoid, and/or burns out on pursuing a woman who doesn't love him. It's a childish way to enter a love relationship.

Red Pill strikes me as the opposite. Find a woman who loves you more than you love her. This is evidenced by the 2/3rds rules on showing signs of love. But the same thing happens. She gets possessive, paranoid, and/or burns out on pursuing a guy who doesn't love her.

Don't be a miser with love. Mutual love lasts. Keeping score kills it. Dealing out your affection like a stingy coot makes you a stingy coot.

If you intentionally have a guy more invested in the relationship than you, you'll have more power. So it's good on that level. I don't like the thought of a zero sum gain in love and I don't seek out that kind of relationship. I prefer to have a guy that seems about as invested as me and leave it at that.

This truly is a sad message to young people. As I have said many times on this site, the fundamental foundation for a lasting relationship is the immediate sexual and physical attraction between you and your partner. Without this, you have nothing.

It is no wonder this acquaintance of yours suffers so.

It sounds like something an old granny would say to her daughter or granddaughter with a good intention but it obviously doesn't align with our time.

At the risk of sounding naive, in my opinion having someone to love as much as you possibly can is a such a wonderful thing for your own self and people should strive for that. I mean, wouldn't you rather find someone who you can love at 100% capacity than at 75% for illusion of "he probably won't screw around"? At the same time, you should be pragmatic and be aware of anyone who would take advantage of your love, know that loving someone doesn't mean you should be a doormat, should expect a reasonably similar reciprocation in love, etc.

Awful advice - it just seems like the beloved is setting themselves up for boredom and frustration, while setting the lover up for insecurity and all that comes with it (jealousy, bitterness, etc).

I don't the person you described is a woman capable of differentiating between lasting love and ephemeral lust or what that means for her in her life. Women like that are the last people capable of giving advice, especially pertaining to relationships. They're also always the first ones to jump in with their two cents.
