Lets say, hypothetically, you have a child, in this case a son, a 5'11", moderately built, blue eyes young man, who is in his freshmen year of college, and he comes home to visit you for the weekend. While chatting with him, he brings up the fact that his dating or sex life is basically....nonexistent. He tells you that, he tries to be really kind and compassionate to the females in his dorm and in his classes, he offers to walk them back to home from parties at night to make sure no one attacks them, he brings them soup if they feel sick, he always lets them use his notes if they miss lecture or class, and buys them cards for their birthdays or valentines day. He says that the girls in question always tell him: "Oh gee, your such a wonderful guy to have around!".

However, when ever he asks them to have coffee with him or go to dinner with him, they always say they are busy with schoolwork, or their lives are really stressful, and they feel they don't have time for a guy. What your son is really confused about is, he has seen some of the same girls he asked out still going to frat parties and making out with guys there. He just doesn't understand why he isn't getting girls himself.

If you were his parent, what advice would you give him? What type of explanation would you have for his rejections? What would you tell him to stop doing or do differently?
