Its a sort of mish mash of guy-cliches "keep em mean, treat em keen", "never make a ho a housewife" and so on and so on under the banner of unified theory.

At its best, the focus on masculine drive might convince some guys who have been pushovers their whole life to finally grab their balls and start approaching women.

At its worst, it devolves into ideological persecution fantasies.

To me, TRP is an elaborate coping mechanism for individuals who simply don't get human interactions and attraction, or had bad experiences with them. It tells vulnerable men what they want to hear.

There seems to be a few different archetypes of the members of TRP:

The nice guy who never got laid
The Nice Guy
The guy who got cheated, dumped or divorced
The dysfunctional or disturbed loner

The first set is typically compromised of really naive individuals who don't have much knowledge or experience of how people work. They are the type who truly pedestalized women, and who for whatever reason misinterpret common sense advice such as "be a decent person" to mean be a supplicating pushover. Their biggest fault is that they are terrible at picking the women they become emotionally invested in (they typically go for girls not interested in settling down or crazy), and don't know how to accept rejection and move on (they keep thinking they can win said girl who has already expressed lack of interest). After wasting considerable amount of time, these people become disillusioned and lost. Rather than address their own naivity, learn from their experiences and perhaps in the future be more selective about the women they get emotionally invested in, they come across to TRP, which tells them what they want to hear. "Women are fucking sluts who can't help their vagina tingles, but don't worry, we'll make it so that they have vagina tingles for you if you follow our strategy." These individuals will then transform themselves into douches so they can attract the bitches they hated from the start, meanwhile never realizing that there exists a whole different world of non-douches and non-bitches. These are perhaps the most benign of TRP-ers, and they typically eventually renounce TRP strategy as they mature.

The Nice Guy is much like the above, except he was never actually nice. This is a guy who is very self-absorbed and selfish and sees basic human decency and basic niceness and respect as things he should be rewarded for. Maybe because they come difficult to him. Long story short, he finds that women don't sleep with you or fall in love with you simply because you're nice, and goes in the opposite direction and concludes women don't like niceness and decency at all. TRP mirrors this belief, so it attracts these types of people.

The guy who got cheated on or dumped is pretty self-explanatory. They are people who hate and resent women strongly at the moment, and TRP provides an outlet for that hate. Women ARE sluts. They ARE bitches. They ARE incapable of love. They ARE solipsistic, selfish, self-indulgent, and they WILL dump you as soon as something comes along because they are just that shitty, unlike good and honorable men. These Red Pillers can go either way. Either they eventually get over their anger, re-evaluate the situation objectively and realize their own faults and move on, or they become immersed in the hate forever and become shells of human beings, completely dominated by their anger and resentment.

The last type of Red Piller is the one that typically also tends to favor "Dark Triad" and racism.* These are people that are a little "off." Maybe they simply lack social skills or the ability to interpret the motivations of other people, maybe they are just deeply insecure, or maybe they are flat out dysfunctional or have mental disorders. But something about them is weird. They typically have few friends, and not much experience with women. Their own "weirdness" is responsible for that, but they refuse to acknowledge that the fault may be with them. These individuals take great pride in rejecting society and embrace the "outcast" mentality. Constantly feeling out with the world and isolated, they begin to build a very self-important view of themselves. What TRP provides for these individuals is justification. These are individuals who can't cut it in normal society, or have fragile egos, and desperately crave validation to reconcile their failures and inadequacies with their inflated view of themselves. "You are man, you are rational and honorable." "You are a leader." "You have value, which will only go up." "If it wasn't for feminism, you would be swimming in pussy." These are guys who believe themselves to be special snowflakes, but they still need to reconcile their belief with "reality," and TRP provides them with the ability to undeniably delude themselves into believing they are special individuals, meanwhile maintaining that "the world is out to get you" mentality, and providing a common enemy (feminism/women). These are perhaps the most insidious of Red Pillers. They rarely, if ever, renounce their misogyny and hatred or even TRP, as their sense of self worth and their ego is built on it. Renouncing such things is essentially admitting they are rejects/failures, something that would be Earth-shattering and painful for them.

TRP is an ideological overhaul for men and boys who feel lost, unwanted, and scorned. Like cults, MLM schemes, New Age movements, and white supremacy groups, it draws vulnerable people in by telling them that they have the answers to all of their problems, and that those problems were created by an external force. None of the failures of the redpiller are faults of his own- they are the result of the evils of women and the greater institution of feminism. Like the aforementioned movements, TRP creates a clear, polar distinction between SELF (everybody who has seen the light and risen above the plugged-in masses, the only people who are actively working towards the betterment of the world) and OTHER (the unenlightened, living dull, terrible, biologically incorrect, dysfunctional lives) By taking the red pill, men find a target upon which to direct all of their anger and frustrations. They are prevented from doing any real form of deep, possibly painful introspection into what their real problems are. It's a seductive movement for people who are too frightened to assign blame to themselves for their failures, or identify their own flaws.

There's also a smaller minority of men who are legitimately terrible human beings that want evo psych justification for the abuse that they're already predisposed to inflicting, and those who enjoy having more reasons to feel dominant over others. I imagine that there are probably a handful of redpillers who have a BDSM lifestyle fetish, as well. In all, most of them are cowards who too insecure to handle an equal relationship.

The thing that keeps people coming back to TRP, as horrible as it is, is that their advice works, to a degree. Good advice is mixed in with all of the strange, abusive bullshit, so it's only natural that some people would find (and report) success using red pill methods. However, this advice tends only to work in the short term on mentally healthy women, as they leave once they catch on to the possessive/misogynistic/paranoid/callous-unemotional/abusive tendencies. It works well for women who are more vulnerable to abuse, such as those who come from abusive households, and women who also are incapable of sustaining healthy relationships. Should be interesting to see if the movement catches on to this, though so far there isn't much awareness in the countless "I turned red pill, and now my girlfriend wants to break up!" posts.

Take a guy who has difficulties to get a girl. He asks around what's wrong with him but all he is receiving is PC-compliant, neutral, compromising, let's all respect each other, easy to sell answers.

So he becomes angry and bitter. He is a low-life. He sees successful guys who can't give any fuck about his situation, he sees women seemingly having sex with anyone but him. This is the first stage of delusion.

These guys wanted easy answers, no one wanted to explain the real world to them. They had to search their own answers. But they did it while having an unclear mind and an irrational approach. They needed self-affirmation, and so they mostly seeked stories and outlook on life reaffirming their position. Confirmation bias. More and more women are absolute sluts, bitch who don't even know what they want. The delusion is getting deeper, they are trying to find some logic in it and build some theory.

So from an unsuccessful outlook on life they tried to have a better understanding. They had at least internalized the fact that something was wrong with them. However they were angry at society for these bullshit answers and these bullshit reactions to their problem. No one cares about a white male in the US, and feminists are out there to get them. They want a good model to follow, but find that society is actually denying them this need. Masculinity is demonized with all these talks about acceptance and respect. The western male is in dire need of a redefinition.

With some internet magic some of these profiles started to find each other. They reaffirmed each other once again and started to build this unique outlook on their situation, where they can say absolutely anything about it as long as you don't destroy the circlejerk.

With all this self-affirmation, they took as truth value this biased starting point of view. The polarization begun, building the community. Some complete nutjob joined the process, finding a place where they could spill their hate and batshit crazy opinions without much reaction, serving the polarization. Some of them are even on PPD (jacks1000 anyone?). This is the final stage of the delusion. Starting from semi-truth, gross simplifications, they built a set of incoherent and mostly irrational corpus of theories enacting their power fantasy and trying to fill this void of a good model.

TRP is an empty shell of an Alpha behavior. It is one more nail in the casket of the western male. It is a counter productive circlejerk that will only serve as a feel-good, let's get together and cry over ourselves, inane place.

The funny bit is their idea of The Blue Pill. The Blue Pill for them is their starting point, the moment they were at their worst. The nice provider no one wants to touch with a 10-feet pole. They cannot even comprehend that this was their life, their story. That the world is much more complex and interesting. They feel like they found the truth by getting together and listening to their gospel. That as long as they feel better about themselves, it must all be true.

I don't relate to TRP probably because I am a woman and besides online stuff, I have actually met a few in the wild, I have yet to meet the "roguish/charming/witty" version but I am assuming that TRP is a vague framework and there is quite a bit of variation depending on age, life experience, personality differences ect ect. I have lurked on RPW and don't relate to them either.

I mean to me, honestly, TRP is a mess of anger and bitterness and circlejerking and legitimate misogyny, at least based on the subreddit itself. I think that it is capable of promoting abuse, and I believe it has in the past. Overall, the effects are just plain negative and depressing in my eyes, and I feel like it is founded on some shaky ideas at best.

That being said, I know not all red pillers are bad people, and I understand why people might turn to it. If TRP makes you happy and a better person and makes your relationships stronger without hurting anyone, I have no problem with it. I just have an issue with the anger and hatred that the subreddit is rife with, as well as some of the questionable things they say.

Basically, as long as you aren't hurting anyone and are able to use TRP in a positive and uplifting manner, I respect you, even if I disagree with what you believe in. If you are willingly hurting others because of tactics preached by TRP, I have zero respect for you because it just reflects poorly on the content of your character. /rant

Note: I expect this to be controversial, if you have any disagreements, please tell me, because I don't mind a friendly debate on this stuff. Despite any ideological differences I may have with anyone, I respect someone until they give me a reason not to respect them.

Edit: I will lay down my major gripe with TRP here, just to be clear. I disagree with the fact that seeing the world for what it is is a bitter experience. I have been through a lot emotionally, been sent to the breaking point multiple times, and still am stubbornly optimistic, to the point that any negative emotions I feel just become more of a reason for me to do amazing things with my life. I don't believe anger and hatred are the answers to people's problems, and I always felt that the only way to improve with lasting impact is through internally motivating yourself and setting lofty goals. The negativity is a major turn-off that casts a lot of doubt on the theory in my eyes.

As a phenomena, I would say TRP subreddit is a reaction to a lack of mature masculinity in western culture. It purports to be a solution to this problem, and in some ways it is, while in other ways it's more like the blind leading the blind.

Beyond the discussion of sexual dynamics/strategy, a lot of the content reminds me of a group therapy session run by a badly trained psychologist. I've done a fair amount of therapy in a group setting, and otherwise normal people say intense, crazy, angry, and hurtful things as a part of releasing compartmentalized emotions.

Many of the TRP users have a ton of unprocessed anger they don't know what to do with. And it ends up getting expressed through faux-objectivity rather than true feeling. This is what creates the 'circlejerk' people refer to. Emotionally driven conversation that is disguised as intellectual always ends up like this, because everyone is too invested in the core premises to really challenge them, but the conversation 'feels good' due to the twisted emotional release. It perpetuates itself, and people who interrupt are punished. But like masturbation it's not satisfying on some fundamental level.

Redpill was something that was lost from me that I found again. I came from the Philippines where the TRP was the norm. There were no sluts, no radical feminism, and no lack of respect towards men. Once I came to the United States I was brainwashed by the western society growing up to be sensitive towards women's actions even though they were repulsive. That being diligent and hard working was for over achievers and getting fat was accepted because everyone in America is fat. The women back home were gentle, respectful, and submissive. They didn't care who took home the money as long as their famility is supported. That women could be mothers and men could be fathers. That masculinity is looked upon and feminity is admired. That marriages are willing to sacrifice and suffer for the sake of their children to give them hope. This is what TRP means to me. No wonder most men are angry when they swallow it. They've been carefully inch by inch throughout the years have been weeded out, disposed, and dissected. I see where western men are headed and I choose not to share their fate.

I am a loner at heart because of my past. When i came across the red pill because i was reading on oneitis, they touted themselves as a self improvement forum, but it felt mostly all talk and little action. Honestly, given my standing in real life, i don't really need to take a bunch of advice on how to improve myself materially or physically from the blind. I got the clear impression they never really had a friendship where they were willing to sacrifice their life in a blink.

And i personally think a forum about sexual strategy rather creepy. What with all the problems in the world, this is what people find to be their calling?

TRP is recognition that what society and culture teaches men about how to be desirable partners is incorrect and untrue.

The TRP subreddit(s) are about exploring more effective ways to be sexually successful. It promotes discussion and knowledge. Misogyny and women-blaming are very much NOT promoted, but rather a phase that some people go through whilst swallowing the pill.

The effects of TRP are that many men who previously weren't successful with women now are. This engenders a lot of anger from people (both men and women) who don't want these guys to be successful and has led to a backlash against men having knowledge about what really works for them in terms of sexual success.

To me TRP is a breath of fresh air, being somewhere people can learn, vent, improve and discuss all in a safe space.

To me TRP is to women as studying finance is to career.

For a man who wants a low stress job and do not care much about money, he might decide to drop out of college and settle for a job consisting mostly of stacking shelves or photocopying. Replace the word "money" for "sex" and you get a man who subscribes to MGTOW.

For a man who wants to pursue a vague notion of fulfillment he might decide to work as a teacher or police officer and accept a salary that is mediocre at best. This is what TBP is like. Find a women that is compatible and enjoyable to be around and ignore the fact that though there is some sex there is not going to be much of it.

For a man that wants to make more money, he should definitely do some financial work. Its going to be stressful. It probably wont be all that much fun to go to work. But it brings in more money and that alone made it my career choice. That is what the TRP is to me. It will be stressful at time dealing with women and you might not even enjoy the company of the women all that much. But its more sex.
