Question for casual sex people: Do you have HSV/HPV?

I had my fair share of casual sex, but both stds I caught were in LTRs. The first was hsv1. The guy didn't tell me he had it until after we had already slept together. I'm still kind of miffed about that. When I first got tested, it showed positive for both hsv1 and 2, but I've only ever had one outbreak. I got retested last summer and it only came up positive for hsv1. Honestly the whole situation is kind of weird. None of my partners afterwards have ever come up positive either.

The second was like a year and a half into an LTR - I got chlamydia. At least that one was curable. I honestly believe he never cheated, he just never got tested when we first got together, and chlamydia can lie dormant for a long time.

I always have to laugh at people on here who say casual sex usually means stds, since both my instances were not the case.

You should also ask if folks have ever been tested specifically for these STIs. Most people don't get tested, and most doctors don't text for HSV or HPV if there aren't physical symptoms.

Anyway, I have been tested for HPV and HSV2. I am negative for both. I haven't been tested for HSV1, but I know I have it.

I got the Gardasil vaccine as a teen and I’ve always tested clean for STIs. I’ve had cold sores since I was a little kid probably through my mom and my body typically has inflammatory reactions to stress (cold sores, hives, even shingles... it’s scary)

HSV1: Have in only on my lips - had it since 5.

HSV2: No. And no HSV1 either on my nether region.

HPV: No - got tested for 6, 11, 16, 18, and once I found out I'm good, vaccinated immediately. Gardasil ftw!

I have tested negative for both HSV2 & HPV. I'm pretty sure I'm also one of the rare few people who doesn't have HSV1 either as I've never gotten a cold sore around my mouth

Yes. My last boyfriend disclosed it before we slept together. I was OK with it.

Also, when I started telling friends about it - I was superseded how many people had it themselves. My mother has been with four men her entire life. She caught HPV and clamyidia.

NOT from casual sex if it needs clarification.

Actually, the chance of catching HSV is about the same in LTR as in ONS. Maybe even higher because the frequency of sex in LTRs is higher.

I'm clean AFAIK and I've had 2 partners so far this year. More men have HPV but it's worse for women so condoms are necessary.

I'm vaccinated for HPV but untested, I assume I don't have it because my partner just got tested and is negative.

I assume I have HSV even though I am tested and negative. My partner has had HSV since the beginning of the relationship 12 years ago. It's highly contagious and it's unlikely to not get infected after a 2 year period. And we ain't doing shit anymore to prevent it. But I'm still negative. It's weird.

About 80% of people who have HSV do not know. And it’s almost impossible to test without an active outbreak because the blood tests are incredibly inaccurate and takes up to 3 months after contracting to show antibodies. Just FYI. So a lot of people thinking they are clean are likely not.
