And remember, Jesus didn't say women should cover up, nor did he push modesty or purity culture. He said if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. And that if they were even thinking about another woman they were basically cheating (FDS approved philosophy?) Literally told dudes that if they were having problems keeping themselves in check they should remove the body parts that were causing them to be sinful.

My favourite part about moving past fundamentalist beliefs is being able to explore the text from different points of view and finding out that there has been a gross misrepresentation of gender politics.

I remember reading years ago, men and women have an "ungodly" character each that must be overcome to succeed in marriage... the men want to shirk their responsibilities and the women want to control. I suppose the woman wouldn't feel the need to control if the man had been doing what he should have in the first place!?

In my experience, "christian" men are the worst.

Natursl doesn't equal positive. I actually do think submission is "natural", but only because women evolved submissive tendencies to avoid being murdered by men. We're physically vulnerable due to our ability to be pregnant and our weaker bodies, so we evolved to suck up to the least shitty men for protection from other men and to prolong the species, which is the prime directive of all life forms--including us. We evolved to fulfill the role that would make our survival, and breeding, the most possible. This doesn't mean female submission is good just because it is naturally occuring. It should be rebelled against whether it is natural or not, but rebelling is unlikely to be successful because of our biological tendencies and general human nature. Hence, blackpill feminism.

I was raised Southern Baptist. I vividly remember a sermon from when I was about 10 years old that was all about how women need to sit down and shut up (yes, those exact words). Every time the pastor said “Women, shut up,” all the creepy dinosaur men loudly echoed, “AMEN!” I was shocked. My mom seemed to enjoy the sermon, though...

Just wanna let y’all know that none of the scripture-twisting sermons about this mention the passage right after about husbands also submitting to your wives. Or about husbands loving your wife like how Christ loved the church. Or about treating your wife’s body like your own because surely no one would harm his own body.

Like someone else described in further detail, the English translation doesn’t do these scriptures any justice, especially with the connotations we have attached to the word “submit” nowadays. This is just more doctrine crap created by MEN trying to get women to bend to their will while they go and do whatever they want.
