I'm living in a camper on my parents farm. I'm usually only in town 2 weekends per month the rest is hotels for work. Here's a question. I get the same thing. I'm 36, I live with my folks still, I don't see much of a reason to actually move out and live with people I don't know. I help my folks out with money, I pay bills and buy food here and there so it's like I'm renting a room anyway. I get the benefit of saving money on rent and they get the benefit of having a younger fitter person around to do yard work and any other hard job that two people nearly 70 cannot. I mean recently I fixed up the roof, something that would have cost them a couple of grand.

I think the Indian immigrants here have the right idea. They buy a big house for the extended family, fill it up then pool to buy another one and fill it up and repeat. The family/clan acquires assets and the old can teach the young. They still have privacy, the interior is usually built like an apartment with suites. I've been considering a similar move out in more rural country. Costs of living would plummet.

Fuck that. A woman I had been dating for a few weeks broke up with me party because of my apartment. She made comments about how it is too old, it was built in the 90s, and after coming over a fee times told me she doesn't like my apartment because it doesn't feel "homey" enough. I like the apartment because it is close to the station and is gaijin friendly with English speaking office staff. Yeah I dont have a lot of furniture but I dont care. One night I ordered us Pizza and we sat on my futon and ate it out of the box. I didn't get the hint at the time, Japanese passive aggressiveness, but she didnt seem impressed by that.

The irony is she lives at home still. If we lived together it would be one thing, but a woman I am dating for 3 weeks has no right to tell me how to furnish my apartment.
