There is something absolutely exhilarating about running in the dark until the sunrise started. Back when I gave a fuck about the legal-cohabitating-female, I would come back, shower, climb into bed and pull her against me. The endorphin and dopamine rush was by far the best I ever felt in my life. Intoxicating.

But then my knees got old and she's a whore. Oh well.

I fully agree that walking up early is great, but the problem is adequate sleep is also important. If I want to wake up at 6 and still get 8 hours of sleep, that means sleeping at 10. Limits your nightlife quite a bit.

more importantly you can give yourself your best if you wake up early. Your mind gets tired throughout the day and by the time you're done with work most people will be burnt out. Instead of giving your fresh mind to your boss, use it on your own endeavors.

Some of the arguments for waking up early can also be made for staying up late. For example, when you get up early you are awake when no one else is awake, or having time to be alone and introspective. But sure, a couple points actually do apply to the morning, such as running when the sun is coming up. I can't speak for others, but my mental battery certainly does not start at full, and is a painful lesson I've learned many times throughout my life.

I don't completely disagree with the idea of waking up early, because it certainly is an achievement to consistently go to bed and wake up early. But it's also an achievement to stop masturbating, or to learn to live without a car. You must ask yourself how much practical value it has, other than simply an achievement that makes you feel good about yourself.

Most of humanity still ties their circadian rhythm to the sun, so unfortunately those of us that must work on society's time clock must also do this. I mean, what first world job must be done during daylight hours? Farming, perhaps. For me, I negotiate my contracts so that my employer knows that while I will complete the work in a certain number of days, what time of day I do that work is largely irrelevant. So I sleep when I want, I wake up when I want, I run errands and such when I want. And THAT is the dream. Making yourself wake up early is chump change compared to re-arranging your life so you can get up when you damn well want to.

My main trouble with waking up early was that I fucked up when going to bed. Doing shit until 2:00am then getting into bed messed with my sleep cycle.

Then I read somewhere in this subreddit about the MARVELOUS app called "Sleep Cycle". This app has added hours to my days, ever since I discovered it.

I can wake up at 6:00am whilst only having 5 hours of sleep and still be more rested and in better mood than before.

Exercise When You Wake Up

I have a big problem with this. I've tried go to the gym early in the morning, but I feel vertigo half way through the workout. If I go for a run before, it's even worse. I've tried going with an empty stomach, tried eating a bit before, nothing works. Anyone have some tips to share?

I won't argue that it works for some, but I think it is blown out of proportion.

My scenario is 3 kids (middle school and high school). With activities almost every night, it is not uncommon for us to be eating dinner at 8:00 (or later) and there are times I'm not even home for the day until after 9:00 pm.

Once homework is done and everyone is in bed, it is easily after 10:00. I've tried going to bed right after they do, but never sleep well. I need some time to reset my brain and let everything wind down. I usually take my dogs for a long walk (3 miles or so) and then either relax with the wife or read.

I'm usually asleep by 1:00 am and up at 7:00 am to be at work by 8:00. And it works for me.

TLDR: Everyone is different. Get the sleep you need and don't worry so much about waking up early just for the sake of waking up early.

I absolutely 100% agree.

In college I would make my schedule so that I didn't have to wake up any earlier than 10am most days, and I would spend my nights playing video games, smoking weed, and going out until 2-3am some nights. During the day, and when I actually had to get shit done, I had no energy or motivation to do so.

Now that I have a real job, with physically demanding work, I wake up no later than 5am, always have a cold glass of water, and a little snack before I leave the house.

I don't even get tired anymore. Like, seriously, I never feel tired. After working for 10 hours busting my ass, I still have the energy to get stuff done around the house, work on my car, go out with friends or lady friends, etc.

mornings are my most productive time. I use them to write new essays, analyze complex data and for talking to important clients, bosses. Its my 20-80 pareto, where 80% of my results are done. Afternoons are for mine social interactions, networking, to listen to the gossips of office environment, etc... Evenings and Nights are for gym, sports, dance, club, sex. There is nothing like going for a run or to the gym after a productive day, in wich you accomplished your planned goals. Every fellow is different. Get to know yourself and schedule your day accordingly. You will benefit from it

id say do a quick cold shower as well. and dont worry if you did a bath the night before, just dry and wear the same clothes and put some axe or smth and you will be woke as fuck. skipping or having a small breakfast helps ME personally but id suggest you try smth similar. I get into food coma easily so i avoid tons of food unless its afternoon or after ive done shit that needed to be done and also am done with my workout

You Will Have The Advantage: Are you stupid? You don't have more time when you get up early. Sleeping less would give you more time. Your "battery" also doesn't reset at 1am or whatever. It resets depending on your schedule.

Self-Mastery: Repeat of point 1 mind over Mattress.

Peace And Quite: I give you that. But it's also nice doing things at 1am when everyone is asleep.

Exercise When You Wake Up: Correct. But it doesn't matter when you wake up.

I will add this -

Put your laptop and your cellphone away from your bed, as they encourage you to stay in it. I've moved my computer screen up to a shelf and took the chair out of my room. Standing up when I use the computer is strengthens my posture and engages my abs and legs. When I get tired of standing or when I want to eat, I squat and use my laptop or my phone.

I will also add that you SHOULD mind the time throughout the day in order to be more efficient. AVOID music, as it is a distraction and alters your time perception.

Discipline yourself, avoid distractions, put on hold Facebook, YouTube or Whatsapp - focus on whatever it is you need to do, and you will gain more hours than you thought your days have. Use the Pomodoro method to take breaks between your studying or training, and let your mind be idle while you're taking breaks.

You don't have to let technology and distractions control you or stop you from gaining your goals.

The problem with getting up early is the aspect of getting better game. For someone who lives in Vegas and/or I feel anyone who wants to practice game extensively, you simply cannot go to the clubs and practice game all night and then get up at 5AM the next day. Something must be sacrificed and I agree that once your get your love life handled after all the night outs and rejections and the priority of girls has been shifted, then I believe that getting up early is the next step.
