This weekend some good ol' boys from the midwest came out to Ski in my neck of the woods. It's been 2 years since I discovered TRP and coincidentally, 2 years since I'd seen my old friends.

There were a total of 6 guys on this trip including me. I'll breakdown 3 of the guys behavior this weekend so you can see their behavior is nothing short of the castrated beta bucks path most men are doomed to follow.

Bill- Bill and I go back about 6 years when we first met as roommates on craigslist. He's a sharp, smart, funny dude who grew up in a great family. His brother is lawyer and married, his younger brother is successful in sales and also just got married so I know he is feeling the pressure. Two years ago when we spoke about the girl he was with, he was definitely not 100% on the girl and you could tell he was contemplating breaking up. 1 year later I get the wedding invitation and she's clearly put on weight since I remember meeting here but non the less here is my save the date.

As this is a weekend to be celebrated being free from the women that they've willingly castrated themselves for; there is an abundance of beer, weed, and cigarettes. This is great, as I know there will be some great reminders and truth coming out as soon as the beer starts flowing as to why I'm in no rush to get Married.

Back to a few quotes by Bill, after a few hits of joint he's the first to go.

"Man, if Sarah(his fiance;the one getting fat already) wanted to divorce me she is the kind of girl that would take me for everything I have"

"All Sarah does is watch the Kardashians, I can't stand that shit"

"Do your women get angry if you don't check in all the time guys?, Sarah always gets mad when I don't check in"

As I've learned from you all, you can't save them. You can only live by example and hope they come to save themselves. With Bill, I simply nodded and smiled while I listened carefully to each response from the other guys. My only input was, "If Sarah is the type to take you for everything you have, do you think a prenup is a good idea?". Bill says, "of course not, it would never come to that"

Mike

I just met Mike. Smart, Likable, good looking dude but his actions, body language, mannerisms, all point down the same road my friend Bill is on. A few gold nuggets from Mike:

"Yeah, I wanted to stay in the home state and start a family as her biological clock is ticking, but she really wanted to move to NYC. She makes a killing in Medical device sales(assuming she is the breadwinner) and we thought this would be are only chance in life to try out NYC."

John

I've known John for about 4 years and he is definitely the most natural alpha out of the group of recently married or engaged to be. John and I have a lot of similar interests and traveling is one of them. John was pretty quiet about his relationship compared to the rest. He was all about talking and trading traveling stories but when the subject of his honeymoon came up you could tell he didn;t have much to say. He said he compromised with her going for a much more expensive less adventurous honeymoon than he would have liked. I'm sure he knew well before he tied the knot, deep down he was already compromising on something he was passionate about...adventure travel. Not much more about John other than it was clear he had a defeated look on his face when it came up.

Lessons learned:

  • I thought LTR's and Marriage can be a slow death of your masculinity if you're not careful. Turns out that shit happens pretty damn quickly. Stay sharp.

  • You can't save your friends. Most of you will see examples of huge red flags where you should try and step in and say something. Stick to trying to live a life by example.

  • We actually do have A LOT more time in choosing to settle down with an LTR. If you are close to/past the age of thirty and getting pressure from family and friends. Don't listen to that shit.

  • Lastly, as I stayed the quite observer this weekend. I couldn't help but imagine what these guys Wives were up to while they were away. I can say with 100% honesty and accuracy the guys I was with never once put themselves in a position to cheat on their wives and fiances. I'll always wonder what goes down when the wife is left at home....because we already know what goes down when the wife goes out of town on girls weekend.
