I would have told the department to back off that attitude because sending you in to a dangerous situation without properly trained and equipped firefighters is a case of incompetence and endangering the worker. It's not sexist at all, I would have done the same thing if it was an unfit and uneducated man. There has to be fucking standards, if you can't pass them you don't qualify. I don't fucking care about gender, race, religion or age. In fact, I would specifically use the fact that there are different tests. I would argue that different standards means there needs to be separated work.

A shell shocked war veteran with shaky hands cannot aspire to be a master watch maker. Females with their weaker physique should not be serving in positions such as soldiers, police officers (on the beat) or rescue operators. It isn't that hard to understand.

Ever since I was a kid I always saw firemen as some type of super hero. Every fireman I saw was a perfect example of a Greek God. It had been like this for a while where I am from but just a few years ago it has really started to slip. They are not in great shape at all any more. When I lift during lunch there will be a few firemen with their matching t's and walkie talkie's lifting too. Only 1 will be jacked compared to the other 3 or 4 and normally 1 of them will be a full on bull dyke that is a good 70 lbs over weight but carries it like a man so everybody lets it fly. I really cannot stand fat people at all. Either way, I wouldn't be caught dead going into any burning building with the firemen I have seen walking around lately. No standards anymore at all.

In the UK the FRS is primarily (only) concerned with preservation of life (ie search and rescue), I know this because it contradicts what we require in the navy, that is to say, we would like to save our ship and equipment so may do reentries etc, but FRS will not back it particularly if there are no lives to save. Firefighting is risky business, so what was her game?

A 190lb 6'1" man with 60 pounds making his mass 250 pounds is going to have to exert a LOT of effort to pull someone out of a burning space. Let's say that that smoke infested, unconscious body is a male weighing 200 pounds......that's moving 450 pounds under life threatening conditions. There's just NO WAY WHATSOEVER that the basic woman (5'5", 115 pounds) is cut out for that kind of life saving work. Hell, it's almost certain death for somewhat in-shape men.

There are just some jobs women are not cut out for....and being a firefighter is one of them. Hell, they weren't even cut out for fighting ghosts!
