Does anyone else not fucking love this lockdown?

Reddit View
May 2, 2020

Admittedly at first I really didn't like it... but now several weeks in, I have to say that I'm liking it.

I just tuned out most of the news and have focused on myself, going deeper and deeper into my mind. I'm having revelations about myself that otherwise may have taken me years to figure out. I feel like mentally I'm processing things very fast. I know myself much more on a deeper level than I ever have. Isolation is a gift.

Now I'm also looking forward to when this ends. But honestly I have to say I love this period, so when I see posts about how people are still "struggling" I honestly get a bit confused.

I can understand hoes struggling cos they ain't getting attention but as men this is a golden opportunity. If anything a part of me is grateful for it.

I wouldn't mind it so much if the weather was better so I could be more active outside. The past month's weather has been complete trash where I'm at. That and could stand to hit the gym when stuck indoors.

[–]FuckJanitors140 points141 points  (20 children) | Copy

Feel like pure shit just want the gym back.

[–]BusterVadge22 points23 points  (1 child) | Copy

Same, brother. I have resistance bands but it's nowhere near the same.

Pretty much exactly this. I will say tho... this whole "working from home" thing is pretty damn nice and I've really enjoyed all the extra free time to work on personal projects. Now.. where's that bottle of bourbon... its time for breakfast.

The WFH situation is wonders for a lot of people. It would be interesting to see how workplace culture will change once things get back to normal. Will they be more open to letting employees WFH?

[–]Ill_mumble_that5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy

Fuck yeah.

It's cheaper to issue employees a linux laptop (that has no functions enabled except for remote desktop) and an ISP credit, than it is to pay for an office.

Get a server running a bunch of Window's 10 vm's and have them remote desktop in over a VPN.

Now you have 100% control over everything remotely, daily snapshot backups if they fuck up their work environment, 1click to revert back to the exact state the OS was in pre-fuckup, and it's no different than if they were on a physical computer in the office.

Need to hold a meeting? Video conference.

Literally no reason to have a company office now unless you need a place to meet clients in person. But with that said you can rent a much smaller and affordable office.

[–]Jaggarojo3 points4 points  (7 children) | Copy

Well good news and bad news. The bad news is, you're fucking boring.

The good news is, we're still in lockdown so you can still find some time developping some other skills.

[–]soldiertroy9 points10 points  (6 children) | Copy

What does him being boring have to do with not being able to go to the gym?

[–]throwaway2p923809uod4 points5 points  (5 children) | Copy

he said his main joy in life was going to the gym lmao

[–]prettyawsm4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

Same. I'm like even saving so much too here gonna buy a bike once it's over 😁

[–]eire1882 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

We’ve Garda checkpoints and patrols every few kilometers here, so trying to get people over is nearly impossible

[–]omega050 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

and how many women have actually come over your place?

[–]pepskino0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

A couple few old flames have popped up after the 60 day mark I think women are tired of being alone

[–]rpmc834 points5 points  (1 child) | Copy

I'm loving it. I already had a home gym built, plus I have a bunch of books in the queue that I can finally get to. I'd learned to cut my own hair well over a decade ago. I have decent cooking equipment so I've taught myself some new recipes rather than going out. I also have a home theatre and I work in IT which means I can remotely do a bunch of work with less interruption than before. Oh, and a few weeks back I took an opportunity to throw a few grand extra cash I had into the market and that's also doing quite well. Think companies that would profit from helping folks work and be comfortable at home, or durable dividend payers that seem to bounce back from every recession over the decades.

To be fair, I did experience an LTR breakup on Monday and the real meaning of isolation hit me for a few days. I reconnected with some BJJ guys, they started visiting to use my gym with me and then when I spoke with the ex again, it turned out everything was a bad miscommunication and that got sorted out too. Maybe I'm just lucky to have already architected my life around having a lot of these conveniences at home.

[–]soldiertroy0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Bump on the home gym. What are your spreads for investing. Aren’t you concerned the markets may be a bit too high rn? It’s seems like they keep going up the more our unemployment goes up, completely detached from reality.

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (6 children) | Copy

Lockdown is great for everyone who is using it as an opportunity.

[–]H_Crush7 points8 points  (2 children) | Copy

how is it an opportunity? I mean, those with homeoffice have extra time and for the rest the traffic is better, but I don't think that's much of an opportunity. I could have locked myself down even before when needed. this thing just breaks social life, even for those that still see their friends and shit and have some kind of rotation

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

I don’t think he means to imply this is like a net positive thing for anybody. But using this time to better yourself would still be considered taking advantage of an opportunity. Also think this advice is better for younger guys and guys still working shit out and trying to elevate themselves.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

What the other guy said, it's an opportunity for mostly younger people to get themselves in order but using this time to better any aspect of yourself is taking advantage of it rather than sitting it out.

[–]muricanwerewolf114 points15 points  (2 children) | Copy

I didn’t need society to take a shit to find opportunity.

[–]Krebota-2 points-1 points  (1 child) | Copy

Maybe because you apparently didn't have a busy life. If you were busy, you'd understand how some opportunities can simply not always be taken. But if you weren't, you are the person that doesn't take most opportunities.

[–]muricanwerewolf17 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

I was extremely busy. Now I am not.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child) | Copy

Love it aswell. I am breaking PR after PR at home. Have all necessary gym equipment at home.

[–]soldiertroy0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Hell yeah

[–]lolomotif127 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

Nope, don't love this lock down at all. Its holding me back from my mission. The things you have mentioned you can achieve without having to go through a fucking pandemic and be quarantined, you just choose not to.

[–]soldiertroy8 points9 points  (2 children) | Copy

Never been in better shape of my life. If anyone doesn’t comes out of this with better habits, it’s truly their fault. I spent my stimulus check on buying a squat rack, bench and a full set of weighted plates. There’s no excuses when it comes to health.

Apart from that my social life is completely 0, but like how you described, this is a force monk mode for most. I embrace it, and will make most of it. When things get back to normal I can restart my hobbies (unfortunately a vast majority of them were social hobbies)

[–]muricanwerewolf17 points8 points  (1 child) | Copy

Yeah, a lot of us didn’t need to get locked inside to find time to get to the gym bro

[–]soldiertroy-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

I still went before the lockdown. I just didn’t want the lockdown to be the reason for it to stop since all the gyms closed down

[–]darkprince_232 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

I miss university as it’s my senior year and I got a lot more spare time now to enjoy the extracurriculars. Not going to the gym sucks balls but I’m working on getting some weights. I miss cold approaching bitches too. But other than that, like you said a lot of realizations and shit there is to fix within myself. So it’s nice for now but I’d like for this quarantine shit to end by September. Then again, none of this shits in our control so we learn to adapt.

[–]pilot3332 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

No gyms, no bars, less women dtf, Amazon deliveries are delayed as fuck. Ya I’m fucking loving it. Great time 10/10

[–]muricanwerewolf115 points16 points  (1 child) | Copy

This is retarded, faggoty mental masturbation. Most of us didn’t need a moment in lockdown to figure out out our shit, we had life well in hand. People lost their fucking jobs, you can’t figure out why some dudes are struggling? Now, I’m able to bring in money, but I didn’t need a time out from meeting women and the gym, or my other passions. Nobody needed anybody to tell them to stay in their house all fucking day, you could have done that at any time.

[–]Solid-Sloth6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

Exactly. This shit took more from my life than its given. No part time job, no summer internship, no university, no volunteer work, no gym all because of lockdown.

[–]SIR_SKINNYPENIS696 points7 points  (2 children) | Copy

I think far too many people in the west have forgotten that money doesn't actually have value. It represents labour done.

Labour is not getting done and people don't seem to realise how terrible the effects are going to be. I'm face-palming so hard right now. Good job I can live and work in Asia. The west is sleepwalking into very big problems, bigger every passing week people aren't working.

The lockdown made sense at first when nobody knew what was going to happen. Now we have a much clearer picture, and looking around the world there seems to be zero correlation between locking down and death rates. The lockdowns are going to cause far more devastation than this virus is capable of, but sadly the west has become scared little mice and I fear for its future.

[–]masterpiece002 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

I think far too many people in the west have forgotten that money doesn't actually have value. It represents labour done.

But people have no problem being taxed 20% for their labor worked.

[–]bethanyisawhore1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Maybe you feel that way because you are extroverted and never voluntarily isolated yourself before, for me it's nothing new. In my country we have a curfew, which is worse than a lockdown and I want out simply because I wants to fuck.

[–]tenghu1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I’m partly grateful for the quarantine as well. Unfortunately, my best friend’s father died from corona but that’s another story for another time.

Why I’m grateful for the quarantine is that the downtime helped me put a lot of things into perspective. I started studying more proactively about Red Pill and trying to instill the right mind set. I respect women; well people in general, but I also know women ain’t shit so I’m training myself to not put them on a pedestal. I should be on that shit! So I watch a lot of YouTube videos about how women think, the 48 Rules of Power, and how to pick up women. Also, I’ve bought workout equipment to workout at home; I do arms and chest exercises in the morning and do cardio on my bike machine before bed. I’m starting to see some real progress!

Lastly, I’ve picked up some new skills; golf and investing. I bought a set of golf and I practice in the baseball field across the street. It’s a great time for me to relax and be inside my own head. On the investing side, I started by paying off most of my debt. My credit report is almost squeaky clean. Gotta invest in yourself first! Once that was done, investing in the market great since everything is so cheap right now, which is partly why I want this quarantine to last a little bit longer so I can get more into stocks. Again, I watch a lot of videos like Dave Ramsay and Dan Lok

All in all, this whole mess has made me realize that it’s time for me to get my shit together (M27). I wanna come out this quarantine literally a new person with a new mindset, new body, and new money.

[–]comu_nacho1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

It's been a self brainwash of many beta insctinct/behaviours. Like, not wanting to infect my elder relatives has put a tint on shit women do. Is it worth it putting up with their shit? Now it's an easy "hell no".

Working out and studying online has been hard, though.

[–]masterpiece002 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

You sound like you are about 20.

I'm having revelations about myself that otherwise may have taken me years to figure out

Most people whom go to prison have this happen too.

You sound like the type that will work behind an extra half an hour for free just so you can tell people how hard working you are.

I started learning how to produce music since 2 weeks now. Best time ever, finally have time to really get into it!

[–]violetmonstermunch0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

[–]catsdontsmile0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I'd love it if it wasn't because of what its doing to the economy and small businesses (mandatory total quarantine in my country)

[–]Sweatingtoomuch0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Yea I’ve been doing a lot of reading and studying for school and other interests of mine like philosophy, getting daily sunlight, eating clean still, and running and working out the best I can with the little equipment I have. I haven’t even been worried about girls but I’m definitely excited to be able to go out with friends again.

[–]CaiusBard0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I won't say I "love it", but it's been very nice in a lot of ways. There are certain social events and of course the gym that I miss. But, like everyone else here I've looked at it as a great opportunity to invest in myself since the usual distractions are gone and truly feel like I'll come out of this a better man. And working from home has been awesome

[–]Don_Draper270 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I was pretty depressed at first but the last 2 weeks I’ve been working out every day with an exercise band, a kettlebell, and a pull up bar. I miss deadlifts but I’ve gotten creative with my equipment. Meditation has made me feel more content with day to day tasks and just feel more present. I’ve been following a carb cycling plan which is getting me a slimmer waist and larger arms. If I feel panicky i just victim puke into a journal and it helps me get over shit more quickly. Intermittent fasting is pretty easy and I’m getting a lot better sleep even with a 10 month old in the house. I haven’t watched porn or fapped in 2 weeks (I was starting to do this every day, even before the quarantine).

Shit I’m even taking my daughter on walks now. Last night we walked for 45 minutes and I enjoyed it. Going on jogs. I’m starting to use my Crest white strips that I had lying around and yesterday I even applied a face wash.

Yeah, the last 2 weeks have probably been the biggest sprints of improvement in my life. I feel so much better and half the time I’m alone with my 10 month daughter (split parenting). Hell, I even have a good relationship with my baby momma.

[–]idontevenlift370 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Only problem is not being able to lift

[–]elitedmillz0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Wtf is this title?

[–]WhatRemainsAfter0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

True that.

I was frustrated as hell fof initial 20 days. Then one day I decided, enough is enough.

Have been exercising daily, Formed a health club in apartment, Started working on my side hustle and just last weekend published my wesbite. To add to that, I feel so fucking good all the time. Like I am the King.

It is all mental. If you want to take charge, Nothing is impossible.

On a side note: Banged 2 girls on 5th and 7th floor since I formed the health club. As they suddenly find me 'sexy'.

Onwards brother. Long may it last.

[–]CjuiedD0 points1 point  (6 children) | Copy

Decided to start an online business and that’s taking up majority of my day. Enjoying it tbh

[–]Valyarian0 points1 point  (5 children) | Copy

curious, how does one take the steps to start a business when you have a idea to start selling, and what are you currently doing for a business if you don't mind me asking.

[–]CjuiedD0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy

Google drop shipping, tons of info on YouTube and google if you’re interested.

[–]Valyarian0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

what do you drop ship, I actually wanted to do the same for clothes

[–]CjuiedD0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

Not gonna give away my product ;p but it’s something that makes being inside more fun to give you an idea. Clothing is really saturated and if you don’t have a good idea you’ll lose money

[–]Valyarian0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

I get that, I just wanted throw around ideas to get opinions flowing, I'll pm you if you down to do some brainstorming

[–]CjuiedD0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Ofc dm me bro

[–]ThrowawayYAYAY20020 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I'm loving my reconnection with nature.

Lots of walks in scenic places and training outdoors have worked wonders.

[–]cglehosit0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Yes, I work from home now and don’t have to deal with office drama shit. Get to go on a bike ride 2x a day with my LTR and our dogs, and I’ve been making lunch and dinner every day. It’s great!

[–]Lalocal4life0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

If you are not suffering financially and have a supportive social circle, this is the GREATEST VACATION IN A LIFETIME!

[–]AncientDragons0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I love the quiet downtime. Just focusing on my kids, my finances, and lifting three times a week (lucky to have a weight set and bench in the basement). The social life has taken a hit but my friends and I are working on music projects together, playing online games and keeping in contact.

When this all started I was in the middle of a breakup, and I’m not about banging chicks right now during lockdown, but that’s really the only other thing lacking.

It’s been a time of self-reflection and preparing to make some meaningful changes in my setup once the world re-opens. But I’ve been sleeping like a baby lately and doing a lot of reading and hiking. I’ll miss this down time when office life pulls me back in.

[–]le_wolfe0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Other than not being able to get a haircut and getting fat, I have settled into this quarantine thing very well. Something like homeostasis.

[–]cfbovernfl0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Yes, I don't fucking love it, either.

[–]antoniofelicemunro0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Not at all, I miss being productive and hitting the gym.

[–]hoopingblob0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

This is something that I did before the lock down when I got into psychology and philosophy. It is truly a revelation especially when you train your mind to be in peace with it.

[–]ThrowRAft6jmp[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Yeah I was doing it before the lockdown but not anywhere near as intensely as I have been since it began. I guess that shows a lack of discipline on my part but eh it is what it is, I'm just grateful for the lockdown.

[–]hoopingblob0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Glad that you are finding yourself. Keep at it

[–]Thefreeman9110 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

Yes because i'm one of the few guys who actually invested in a home gym instead of buying 2oz of weed

[–]bethanyisawhore0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Wow this hits hard. And I joined a gym and started working out after three years only two weeks before we got locked down. Such luck.

[–]Thefreeman9111 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

No excuse not to get some form of exercise in. Your mind is in the right place. Don't let it get you down.

[–]rprookie-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

The government is trying to control US.

[–]operationveritas-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

Also in the U.K.

Lockdown has been awesome tbh. More time to do things to improve and use it as a huge opportunity. I even built my own makeshift gym in my garden to satisfy that need (which literally anyone can do, garden or not). All is possible. Power through and come out the other side better than the rest.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
