This is so true. We waste so much time being with the wrong people because we've been trained to think we're not allowed to wait for the right ones.

We see red flags and think "they'll change." We take abuse and think "we were both in the wrong, really." It's heartbreaking. I think of young, accomplished women who get involved with horrible dudes who don't treat them well and who still think they're lucky to have found someone.

Oh, and dating older guys because they're so much more mature? How about men taking advantage of women who don't know better yet? I did it, I dated a guy who was 8 years older than me when I was barely into my 20s. I thought I was so mature. And I look back now and realize that this guy was nearly 30, still went out getting drunk with his friends, got high all the time, lived in a 1-bedroom apartment with no furniture...

He wasn't dating me because I was mature, he was dating me because I wasn't. Women his own age wouldn't have considered him because he was immature.

My grandmother got married at age 19 to get away from her abusive parents and the man she married, my grandfather, was sadly a LVM . He was an alcoholic, their whole flat smelled like cigarettes he smoked, he had temper issues, he sometimes hit my grandma even when I was around, he was never a breadwinner he claimed to be, when he once got fired he didn’t tell my grandmother and pretended to go to his work for a whole month. She literally said to me that she finally felt free when he died (he had a lung cancer). She sadly spent 45 years on LVM. I would be devastated.

But if you do hit 45 and are single...don’t have low self-esteem and regret your life...especially if you truly believed the guy who wasted your time was a good one and you just got blindsided. Learn from it and move forward. Obviously when it comes to procreation it’s hard in your 40s, but in other aspects, you can still learn from mistakes and live a good life.

Yup, I'm 18 and before I found about that community I was worshipping some player who used me and disrespected me. I'm very happy yall openedy eyes... because I can see where this whole pickmeisha situation would've led me: nowhere.
