I remember how much I would have squealed with joy if my ex ever proposed to me. I was obsessed with him because he never gave me what I needed from him, so I just held onto anything he gave me like a starving dog being thrown a bone. I look back now and thank God he didn't propose because I would have said yes and still would have been miserable.

I have been proposed to twice. Declined both because of behaviours they exhibited I felt were not high value. Didn’t realise it at the time but I was practicing FDS.

I said yes to a woman who I didn’t want to be with. I felt completely controlled, and every time I tried to leave, she would somehow manipulate me into staying. My intuition was screaming GTFO, but I didn’t know how. Everyone around me kept saying “yeah she‘s got her downsides, but you two are #couplegoals”. This didn’t help, I thought it was all imagined/in my head. I finally broke free 4 months ago, where I ended up pushing her away so hard just to get away (we were living together and I couldn’t find an escape), so she thought she was the one who ended it, when I was already well and truly done. That day she finally left that front door is the happiest moment of my life... we were due to be married next January, and on that exact date I’m throwing a huge party and the theme is self love. It’s been beautiful finding myself again, now that her toxic ass has gone out of my life.

Sorry for possibly hijacking this post, I felt I should share my experience. Not sure why. Posts like these make me so proud of other women. We are all so worthy of love, especially when it’s our own self love and worth. 💙

I said yes, but broke it off soon thereafter. Dodged a bullet with the marriage thing, and after some years gained an amazing, insightful, healthy friendship. No regrets!
